Flexing of the E-Trac handle.

I see you have tape on your handle grip and not the stock foam grip. Perhaps we do not feel the flex because of the different grip. someone without a foam grip should check theres and let you know.

I have noticed slight flexing especially when swinging to fast with 12x15 sef coil. But after several hundred hours it is no worse and the machine has functioned flawlessly for over 2 years now.The area you pointed out is just a continuation of the hollow plastic 2 piece battery compartment and should have slight flex when your swing changes directions suddenly but that is a sign the machine is being swung faster than the optimum pace and is in no way a flaw.

Been using my E-Trac for 9 months now and I have no wobble or flex in mine, in fact my Tesoro and Fisher both creak a little but my E is solid.

Excellent point you made Ray.---Swing rate (especially with larger coils) hadn't occurred to me, that could explain it.-----I use a slow, methodical sweep and the largest coil I have used on the Explorer or Etrac is the 10X12 SEF & that could be why I have not noticed what the gentleman is describing.-----Hey, the Etracs are designed for a somewhat slower swing rate anyhow-----PROBLEM SOLVED!! (I hope) ;)---------Del

i just checked on my handle where you showed in your picture, and there is a screw thru the handle, just under the control box face, that my be loose or possibly broken. (hopefully just loose) if you remove the front of the control box you should be able to check it. i have a few hours on my machine and i have to say it is loosening up a bit. but my problem is the lower shaft. it seems to have worn out from swinging a larger coil and adjusting it all the time. i really havent had any trouble with the handle tho. i hope this helps. -mike

same here on both my etrac and explorer, if I swing it to fast I notice it.

you should see the coil movement/flex on my whites dual field:drinking:.......that coil really makes the rod twist if you swing it to fast.

zofchek does it do it when you slow your sweep down?

I think there is a very small twist felt in the handle to shaft when swinging left to right. The Plastics are not what you are used to and I notice this when coming off swinging my other machine to the E trac. It is not that it is loose just that there is some give in the plastics. If you hunt enough this just seems nor mall and you would likely not notice it. I'm guessing that is what you are feeling.

good luck,

its absolutely normal if its a bit twist, etrac-explorer handle construction is made from the ABS plastic, when coil weight 1pound or more and leverage is 3 foot its normal. its last minelab with this construction, heavy and not stiff.
