Florida hunt

Well im back home after Jan, Feb and Mar in Florida. I got to hunt with 3 or 4 good hunters that knew some of the older small towns. I hunted the first two months in the center of the state around Avon Park. We got permission to hunt the old ball field that was around during Babe Ruth era. I also hunted some cracker houses and some old schools. Then i move in March to Englewood on the gulf. There was always 3 or 4 hunters around on the 3 local beaches. A lot of beach and but it was really clean digging everything was easy because you didnt find much.... not even bottle caps. Someone said they never find nickels.... well i think i did ok and if there was any ring there i should have found them. I only found 2 gold band, 9 silver items, 6 tokens 2 of which was for a silent movie by Gloria Swanson. I only hunted a few times just because they charged you 75 cent an hour to park. That may be why i didnt do as well as id hoped. Plus my wife kept me busy with yard sells. My totals were....

1 1964 quarter
1 1912 V nickel
2 1943-44 silver nickels
1 undated seated dime
5 Roosies
37 mercs
12 barbers 1897 - 1916
2 IH
93 wheats

Clad
186 quarters
232 dimes
62 nickels
508 pennies

Congrats!! That is a nice haul for Florida. Rings are nice and a good amount of silver too.

Just looking at your total coin count Dew....it is
pretty impressive, I don't think your wife kept
you THAT busy with yard sales LOL... 'cus
it takes a while to dig that many plugs and to
find that many good coins even if the ground
might be soft or the targets shallow. Glad you
had fun and got some hunting in....:detecting:

The plugs arent that difficult in Florida.... kind of rooty in places. Also when i hunt... im out there for a good while. Most of the coins were in jan and feb i got a good amount of hunting. I got a lot of clad from the inland beaches and ball parks. I picked up a lot of clad that most people dont and i was killing the dimes and nickels. I was surprised that i only got one silver quarter and no halves. I find a fair amount of old coins in Ind, but this was a great winter. Next year may be an AZ/CA year.
