Floridia beaches

My wife and I are going to go to Florida for our 25th wedding anniversary and want to metal detect some beaches. We have a whole week we are driving down from South Carolina, my questions are these. Is there any beaches that are not allowed to be hunted, what beaches usually produce, is it better to drive to the gulf coast side any tips or information will be greatly appreciated. I am just getting my wife into this hobby after so many years of going by myself its nice to have her with me.

Treasure coast didn't earn that name for no reason! At the end of the day though the beach conditions are what matter most. New Smyrna was torn up good recently and people made large numbers of finds but now it's sanded back in I hear.
