Here are 3 from 1987. Centreville Va. was early war camps of General Johnston. I dug over 100 confed. buttons from this area.

I've be relic hunting almost as long as you but not quite. Buttons are by far my favorite relic, less a plate or 2 of course. You certainly fit the bill" The original button digger". How are you so good at diggin' buttons. Do you read music or play it by ear.
