For those that have found large gold objects with the eTrac: What sort of numbers did you get?

I've found a few gold rings this year but nothing too heavy or large (or deep for that matter -- mostly near surface stuff). The largest ring (8 grams, 14k) came in at a solid 12-09 / 12-10 and was an inch deep.

I've done very well on finding deep silver but that's easy with the eTrac as we all know. So, how about gold? What sort of numbers have you gotten on the eTrac for larger gold objects?

It's a rarity to find 22 kt or purer gold jewelry these days, but it's not impossible. Almost all Indian jewelry and many other Asian cultures have predominately 18 kt or purer gold. Over the past few years, I've seen a few of my buddies find .999 gold rings (tested 22kt or purer), that registered from silver dime to half dollar in conductivity on Explorers. The purer the gold and the more compact the size(i.e. a ring), the higher the conductivity of the item. Sure, most of your gold finds will be in the lower conductive range(10-18kt), but one day you may be surprised to find one of those high conductive, .999 pieces....What a rush!!! :yikes:

I found a decent size Man's wedding band. It came in at 12-24 solid every angle about 4 " deep.
