When I was out detecting today I had stopped to chat with the owner of the house, I turned me detector off and had it by my side. I talked with him and his wife for about 10 minutes and then turned on the Trac and started detecting. Got a good quarter hit and looked down at the screen and noticed that it was completely black, but the detector was working fine. It slowly came back after about 5 minutes or so. Has anyone had this happen? I don't know if it was because I was in the sun or not. I have had the occasional problem where I will be detecting for a while and I look down and the little coil icon over the depth indicator and the circling dots over the sensitivity are nothing but a black box, but that goes away. Anyway didn't know if anyone else had this problem. Thanks

Doesn't sound good. Did the battery have a good charge? If I may ask, how long have you had your machine? Did you buy it new?

Got it new in Nov, Batteries were fully charged. Its OK now just trying to see if this is a known problem.

Never had that happen, although here a while back at an old church i was swinging the coil
and just over this one little area spot,my detector would make a noise and it would say Voltage too high.
and then shut down.did it three times.Never had any more happenings after i moved on.
I wonder what was in the ground there.

Well, It was at an old church Bob....:goodnight:

I've actually had the same thing happen to me but it was when I only got the Sunray switch about part was back for a split second. Kinda like I just didn't get it to switch back off too quickly.

I have gotten the Voltage Too High when I first put in brand new Lithium batteries (sometimes use them when traveling long distances and no ability to recharge).

After it runs for a minute or so, then it stabilizes and works fine.

I had it sitting out in the sun. The screen went black. It slowly came back. I keep it in the shade now, it hasn't happened since. Sounds like a mild dose of heat stroke.:stretcher:
