Got out for a few shorter hunts over the last several days. Last Saturday I hunted a friends old house and found the Pendant Watch and the 1944 Wheat Cent.
Found the Silver .925 Ear Ring under the gravel in a 1800's church parking area and the 1818 Large Cent was found on a vacant lot where a house stood many years ago.
This Large Cent was 7" to 8" down and came in as a very solid - FE 11/12 - CO 46/47. I had a real good feeling about this target before I dug it - it just sounded right - said to myself - "this has got to be a silver quarter or a large cent " !
This is the tenth Large Cent I've found so far and it's my oldest to date. The first six L.C.'s I found all had 1840's dates on them - then last Summer I found one dated 1828 at an abandoned farm house - next came the one I found in Maine last Fall dated 1822 - then came the 1820 L.C. I found near an old church last Winter - then this 1818 found yesterday.
I'm thinking ... if this keeps up ... I will be finding a Large Cent with a 1700's date on it by the end of next year !
