Found In My Dug Clad Two More War Nickels

banditicey

New member
For the past two years we have been cleaning our clad during the winter and then rolling them
After finding my "first" war nickel, I was curious if we had overlooked others in our clad
Believe it or not we have yet to turn in last years clad and that was lucky
To be truthful, as I have gotten into detecting, I have started to take an interest in the coins:surprised:
Here are the two war nickels I "found" in our collected dug clad

What is interesting is all the dug war nickels (3 in total) are all 1944P's
Which probably means that this date is most common or not?

I cleaned the nickels for photo because if I had not seen the dates
I'm not sure I would have realized they were silver before cleaning them

So lesson to learn, check your clad

see how big the mint mark is above monticello? thats the easiest way to tell. i like war nickels, theres actually more silver in two war nickels than there is in a silver dime, even though they both have 10 cents face value.

Very nice Bandicity, excellent recovery. I still check alot of my coins b4 wrapping, if I wrap at all.

Thx 4 sharing

I check all my Jefferson nickels. Besides the silver war nickels those minted in 1938 and 1939 along with the 1950-D are worth a bit more then 5 cents.

Hey thats cool that is sort of like finding them twice! I just tumbled my nickels I will have to give them another check now!
