Found some sweet buttons and several mystery items

stopped at this spot I found the other day was hoping for some old coins but it wasn't to be the very first target I dug was the flat button with "Gilt" on the back, gave me hopes for this site, dug another flat button that sure looks like a tombac, shank is broke off, then a third button that back is rusted away.

I found all the other stuff all over the site, what is it?? looks like lead, but it is pitted...any clues?

not a clue , but all cool !

You're right. Odd finds to say the least. Almost like they left clothing and furniture knick knacks outside and left in a hurry. Fire maybe Terry? Thanks for the pictures.

neb this site is a real small maybe two acre park, sign says it was an Indian village or something in 1800 then it was something else, then it was a cemetery from 1850 to 1900 then the cemetary was moved and now it is a park.......so I am guessing the stuff is POSSIBLY old casket hardware, decorations etc......think that is possible? I found NO old coins at all....the area is real quiet, no iron at all. I was in conductive mode the whole time and never lost threshold. I don't think there is fill dirt. The clad I dug was normal depth three to four inches and buttons were in six inch range. I will go back again sometime and give it another shot, those buttons tell me there is a possibility of finding older coins.....

Your lead looking pitted metal may just be "white metal" or pot metal. It's also possible that the buttons are all that is left of some poor soul's clothing, that was buried in a wooden casket, that rotted away.........NGE
