find the GOODS. The last couple of weekends I have been searching for a place where there was an old tent city in the 1020's, we had many of them in my area, and finally on Sunday evening right before dark I found the six tent rope tensioners along with the 1919 wheatie in about 30 minutes. The wheat is in great shape, except for the nick. One lid is E.R. Durkee & Co and it dates back to that time. This is the place and if I can't find something here I am going to take the shaft off the E-Trac and make a divining rod out of it and have a go that way!!! Had a great time with my 83 year old dad, he loves this more than anything, glad I still have him to go with me. -- Randy

Good luck....I wondered what those things were! I have found several of them at an old field site and d no clue what they were

I'm assuming your 1020's site is actually 1920's site, only if the coins you found were the time line of the site. Doesn't really matter the time line, what does is the time spent with your Dad and I could only wish I could say the same thing. It looks like it was an awesome time.

Thx 4 sharing,
Moose

I just thought about something, this place is on a 160 acres with rolling hills and big bushes. My dad's memory is shot and mine is not much better, I hope it doesn't take us another 2 weekends to find the place again:blink:

You need a GPS to mark the spots where you find good stuff.

Gotta be some silver there...
We have some tent cities around that have shed some good stuff...
What a great place to give the ol' TTF a try...
Good luck!

Well I'll be darned. Last Saturday, I found one too. Mine came up in two pieces. Had no idea what it was. Thanks for posing this.

Sounds like a dream spot! Looking forward to more from that area. What was the reason for so many tents? Thanks for the pictures.

Towns sprung up quickly and vanished quickly following the oil boom in the late teens and 20's. There would be buildings where Hotels, banks, general stores, cafes and the like were, but most of the workers lived in the old canvas tents. Many of these towns only lasted 5 to 10 years. There was one town here that had a population of 10,000 for a brief period and most lived in tents, and the town was completly gone by the late 20's. Most of these places have been hunted to death but I have been looking on the fringes to try and find places that have been missed by the masses. -- Randy

Awesome finds and good times! Thats the good stuff. My dad lives on the S. Texas beach and hopefully will get to go on our second hunt ever and first T hunt on the Ocean beach this summer. Treasure those moments for they are more priceless than Gold.

Nice finds buddy!! but the time spent with dad is better than any find you will ever make, mines getting up there in age as well so any time is cherished!!!

I live near an oil boom town too and have a line on where one of the tent cities might have been. Need rain first though. HH
