Hey everyone. I found quite a mixed group of finds on Friday after work. The penny is just for size reference. These were found in the same place I found the cloak clasp, thimble, and ring. The same general area anyhow.
What I thought was a cannonball, but I'm told is cannister shot!? It measures just shy of 2 3/4 inches wide, and weighs approx. 3lbs. Has a small round falt spot on it where it was fired? It's in rough shape, but a great find! Anyone know anything about these? What it was fired from? How old maybe?
I also found a small brass bell. The top of the loop is broken, but other than that it's in good shape and works well. The ball inside is quite rusted, but that's to be expected. Not sure what this was used for!? Sleigh bell!? Animal?
Also found what looks like a necklace amulet, or a keychain perhaps. It looks to be made of brass. Very heavy and in the shape of a totempole. I don't think it's too old, but pretty neat.
Lastly, I have no clue what this little piece is, and probably never will. It has 6 holes in it, and it says "Cuno pat pend. no.1791" Who knows.
Any thoughts or comments on these items are appreciated. Thanks for looking!
