Full tones question

I took Deus out for its maiden voyage today to a place I've taken my other detectors. I only covered a small portion which is one of the areas I've hit the most. I didn't expect to find much (which I didn't). I just wanted to get a feel for the detector. So far I like it and I know once I get used to it, it will be deep, but the one problem I seem to have is with full tones. I read that the audio responses are supposed to be smooth and blend together, but I found when air testing coins that they were almost too high pitched...almost like a whine. Some signals I didn't want to dig because they were zippy. Was there a setting I may have had to cause this? Or is there something I can change. I still have a bunch to learn, but even when air testing coins, they didnt sound that great when they were farther from the coil

I wouldn't use full tones right from the start. it takes some time to learn the differences and nuances of the tones before you become proficient.

I think you're looking for a lot of frustration starting with full tones, its something you should grow into.

That being said, full tones is all I use now and I still get fooled plenty of times on high conductivity targets.

Just use the tones that come with the stock progs, usually 2-3 tones, when you have a few more hours on the clock then start experimenting with full tones, just take your time with it,it will start to all come together.Slowly but surely as they say.

These videos will help speed up your learning curve...btw, the Deus is pretty easy to learn...

I have hunted with full tones from day one on the Deus. They were somewhat disappointing at first and still are but I was expecting them to rival other detectors in descriptiveness and they don't.
I think you will find them to be more blendy in the 3 , 4, or 5 tone modes than full tones but still limited by the restriction the tone settings are set at but , this provides a type of tonal discrimination without notching that can be very useful at some locations and would be deadly with a small coil. One thing which may enhance the tones for you a bit is to lower your reactivity setting to 1 or even 0 and hunt in some less trashy areas for awhile until the tones "take". The tones get shorter and clipped as you get into the higher reactivity settings.
