Fun on the beach!

Well-known member
I got to detect a stretch of beach last week and the best of the finds was this piece of silver jewelry. Disappointing but it was totally enjoyable to be out there and enjoy the beach experience even though gold was not to be found. There will always be a next time though!!!
P.s. there were lots of adults and kid's swimming out there ignoring the shark signs up on the beach!!! Crazy people!!lol

Still a lovely find.....quite a big chunk of silver.
As for the shark sign......you can't believe some people.......if some young kid gets killed it will be the sharks fault and then you will get a load of wanna be heroes out looking to kill it.
The parents of those kids swimming are ringing the dinner bell.......well if the shark does get an opportunity all i can say is "bon appetit".....pathetic humans.

Nice find! You enter the sharks domain so sooner or later there's bound to be a "bad shark" not their fault people know the risk going in.

Keep looking and you might find a gold ring finger and all ..lol
Congra's on the silver

Thanks for the comments! I for one wouldn't get in the water with those signs around! I'll be back on a different beach very soon as I have another week long vaca; coming up!!

Nice find. Sharks are scary! They have two things on their mind--food and sex and they don't care where the food comes from. Kind of reminds me of my first wife...

A BIG lol!!!!! The older you get, the more cautious you get. I know sharks don't usually chew on humans but I'm not the kinda guy to give them an opportunity anymore!!

Goldstrike, Congrat's to you on the silver cross. Nice find and save. As far as the kids swimming with shark sighting signs posted........ "They're gonna need a Bigger Float"!

If you are wading in salt water then you are wading with sharks. They are everywhere especially in coastal waters. I have been detecting and watch them swim between me and where the surf was breaking. The fear of shark bites is far out of proportion to the actual number of people who get bit. Also a lot of shark bites are actually bites by Bluefish.

Happy 4th of July everyone! GeorgeinSC, I guess I just don't want to be among the small percentage that do get bit!! It's a shame (for me) because a lot of good stuff, especially gold is found in the water. I think there are a lot of beach detectorists that share the same apprehension as I do!! I hope you continue to find that gold!

Statistics show that mosquitoes kill far more people than Sharks ever will. I worry far more about being drowned than I ever would about a shark biting me. If you look at who is getting bitten it is not the individual who is slowly working their way down the beach. It is those who are mimicking the sharks prey. Splashing etc attracts them. Surfers paddling their boards are especially attractive to a shark.

Nice find! As far as the shark sign, yes they are crazy for going in KNOWING a shark was recently sighted, BUT, the sharks are ALWAYS there, just because a lifeguard hasn't seen one and put it on a sign means nothing!
