Fun with the Racer 2 on Montes outings #8 & 9

Did the two outings in NV, one was in the Wells area and the other down in Tonopah. As always they were lots of fun and a chance to meet up with some friends again. I primarily used the Racer 2 with either the 7" coil or a small coil. Well now at least I can say I have seen Tonopah and the Tonopah dump. I didn't do any sifting. I detected the dump area a few days and another site the last day. We also explored a few sites in the area as well. If you go to Tonopah, you have to stay in the world-famous Clown Motel to make your trip complete :) When all was said and done I did manage to bring home a few keepers.

In the Wells area, I ended up with an 1859 half-dime, an 1869 IH Penny and prob my best find a FOB in the shape of the Liberty Bell that came from the 1915 San Francisco Panama Pacific International Expo. So that was a neat find.

In the Tonopah area I managed a 1901 IH Penny, 1900 V Nickel and a nice Eagle Button.

Very nice!!!
Sorry I couldn't make it..... Again.
Looks like a fun hunt.
The Indian and the seated still elude me.
I'm starting to think I either need to find older sites or everything near me has been picked

LOL hey Del how ya been? Yep ya haven't lived life till ya played in the Tonopah dump and stayed at the Clown Motel.

Beautiful pictures Gregg (especially of the dump)!!----Makes my heart yearn to go back once again--ain't gonna rest easy till I get 'er done!:)-----Commitments up here kept me from going to that one---it is a long drive also.

Gregg - It was a great outing even though the better treasures eluded me this time. I did my best in the casino. I always enjoy hunting with you, and I'm hoping there's more WTHO's in the future.

Tom, it was good seeing you again as well. And yes I hope the outings continue as well, they sure are a lot of fun.

I was waiting for a Tonopah trip report, nice work Gregg, really like that PanPac fob, very cool!!!

You haven't lived until you've spent 3+ days on a trip sifting the Tonopah dump :detecting: As for the Clown, you're on your own on that one!! BTW They were featured on one of those creepy ghost programs on TV, and the big doll in the office purportedly moved all by itself....yep, sure....

Great finds! And a good report too.
Love to go west for one of those WTH outings some day.
Worlds apart from our ghost towns and turpentine camps
