G2 All Metal

The G2 isn't stable enough in all metal what do I need to do ? Any advise? I have turned gain down. Ground balances .............??????????????????

Why do you want to hunt in all metal? You are not gonna get any more depth than disc mode. Mine is stable in all metal, just don't go there, don't need to......MO

Sonny----I run mine full bore sensitivity in disc in almost ALL the places I have hunted with the G2 and it is quiet as a church mouse---VERY stable.------You say a.m.---how is yours doing in disc?-----Are you getting a good gb?-----Try it a little in pre-set gb.----------Del

mo!..ya findin' any coins when ya hunt?..if so,what kind of depth are ya seein' on average!

thanks!

No coins, but I have found quarter size buttons at least 10" deep and chucked out nails out of the same hole!!!!!

Usually with other detectors I have owned I have gotten more depth out of ALL METAL . In DISC is work great VERY VERY quiet . I wouldn't think they would put a feature like All metal on there if it wasn't intended to be used .

A.M. is intended to be used alright!---The G2 is designed (first & foremost) as a gold machine.

Sure did .....Same results .............No matter what I did with the gain................Ground balanced well..................Might have asick detector

Sounds like your machine is working fine. In AM even the tiniest ferrous or non-ferrous target will be heard. #6 shot at 5 inchs is sensitive that is why most owners use disc. I think this may be a prospectors dream. Take it over to Douglas Dam and hit those parks. Try hunting close to there with the T-2 or F-75. Give the G-2 a chance before you send it back. Mine goes crazy in AM but unless I go up to Tellico or Coker Creek I won't need to put it in AM. Good Luck and HH :teknetics::minelab:

Well my deal is its wants to give a grunt at the end of every swing in All METAL . I have no problems what so ever in Disc.

(first and foremost!)..the g2 is a muti-use detector with a "gold"
frequency!..it is 'clearly" advertised as a multi-purpose detector!
just sayin!

yeah!..low conductor buttons!..kool!
kinda wonderin' how it "hits",and at what 'depths"
it's nailin' coins on average!..sounds "promising" though,
because those buttons are showing the same "mass" to the coil
as a"high" conductor quarter would!..interesting!

Dont forget about the fade the all metal get either.

jmaryt-----Do you EVEN own/use a G2????---I suggest you read page 3 of the owners manual.-----As I stated, the G2 was designed "first & foremost" as a gold detector.----Versatile in other applications, yes---but was FIRST & FOREMOST designed for GOLD!------Quote (in part) owners manual, page 3------"Introduction to the G2--deep penetrating gold nugget hunter".------"The newly designed G2 has been custom designed to find the smallest gold nuggets, but unlike other specialized gold prospecting detectors, it can also be used for relic-hunting and coin-shooting".------"The controls and features are tailored to gold prospecting, including a sophisicated ground balancing system, seperate control over signal gain and threshold, and a unique discrimination control system. These features also make for a great relic-hunting detector. While the G2 makes a highly competent coin-shooting detector, it's user interface and features are not specifically designed for this purpose".-------Nobody likes it more than I for hunting relics (and coins) but you need to get your facts straight before you make those "shoot from the hip" statements.----------Del

yes!..i shot from the hip,and don't own one yet!..check out the ad!..FIRST AND FOREMOST
it states "multi purpose" detector!..don't have to own one to read that!..again!..check the ad out!
'nuff said!..it's running at a high frequency with "multiple" applications!.. "first and foremost!"
as i said!..sooooo!.it's NOT strictly a "gold hunter" as YOU indicated!..

OH BOY YOU ARE HARD TO GET THRU TO!!!!!------I DID NOT say it was STRICTLY a gold hunter!---Read the manual page 3---repeat---read the manual page 3!!!!-----I said it was FIRST (and foremost) designed as a gold machine---and has relic & coin hunting capabilities (if it didn't, I wouldn't have bought one).---The G2 (19 khz) was designed for gold the same as the GBSE (19khz) was designed for gold WITH RELIC & COIN HUNTING ABILITIES!----Do you understand that when it's put to you that way?????-----If you want to argue about it, call up FT and ask them--better yet, ask Dave J.-------Enufs enuf with ya, adios-----------Del

 Hey John----I don't care if it was designed to detect clay marbles as long as it does the GREAT job that it does in iron for relics.---Put that 5" coil on it and it's nothing short of amazing in the heaviest iron sites I've ever worked.----Gold hunting & coin hunting is just "iceing on the cake" as far as I'm concerned.----That's why I purchased 3 of them for my family--I'm that impressed (in that regard) about that little G2.------BTW, did I mention it was designed for gold??? :lmfao: ;) --------Del

I tested and use the G2 and it may be a gold machine but it is the best relic and coin machine I have used.
