Anyone have trouble keeping the buttons clean on this machine?
I can just see myself packing them with mud.

I'm thinking a cover would be a necessity

I am right handed. I keep my detector in my right hand almost all the time, seldom setting it down,.

My left had does all the recovery work and it is the only hand that gets dirty.

Never a problem with mud-caked controls or a smudge on the display.

Just my techniques and though on the matter.

A zip-lock sandwich bag makes a great cover !

I hunt with my right hand on my machines too and if it's cold out I use a cotton knitted glove on my right hand.
I dig with my Letsche digger with my right hand but use my left hand with a glove from Lowes or Home Depot blue with a velcro wrap on the wrist portion garden glove for handling the dirt.
I also carry the right hand one just in case it's needed in my pocket. The knitted right hand glove can be easily removed and keeps my hand clean as a by product too but generaly it doesn't get dirty the left one does.

I use that to when the ground is wet/muddy. I cut a slit in the baggie in the back so the humidity doesn't build up and the control head can breathe. I use electrical tape to secure bag to the hand grip. But always keep an eye out for humidity buildup inside the bag.

I was thinking about trying some of the clear Kitchen plastic wrap over the face and wrapped back behind the head. Not sure if it will work or for how long, but gonna give it a try.

There are some on fleabay that fit the T2 and Omega. They should fit the Gamma also. Search Teknetics metal detector.

ordered a cover today for my mew Gamma
turned it on this evening with the stock 8 inch coil and it hits hard on my 7 inch deep quarter

plan on doing some side by side comparison between the gamma and the omega / both with 8 inch coils / just to see

swing with my right and have the glove and digger in the left. Also, have seen a many video with guys putting their hands in the dug holes without gloves. That could cause a serious cut with possible glass and sharp metal objects in the holes.

I've been keeping clear saran wrap on mine and a little clear tape under the bottom to hold it all on. It's stayed clean thru some muddy hands holding it and I've had no problem with it. And plus it's cheap
From what I've heard from a couple dealers, the rain cover for it is kind of a generic, fit's-all kinda thing. I'm planning on getting one of the ebook screen covers that's clear plastic made to go on the screen and cut it down to fit the screen on my Gamma.

GL and HH

you know , i bought a cover and i think the sandwich bag is better
the cover is stiff and doesn't lay flat against the screen like i wish it did

I'll probably start cutting on the new cover and make it a face plate cover only

Eventually, the stiff cover will cause wear spots on the face plate. The sandwich bags are softer.
