Garrett ACE 250 gold question

Okay, I've found a lot of stuff over the last three months or so; including three silver coins -- 1909 quarter, 1911 half dollar, and Standing Liberty quarter -- but I'm still awaiting my gold. I've been paying careful attention to the audio and visual (and I'm digging lots of pull tabs per the sage advice from this forum) and I have one question: On the 250, does gold typically stay fixed on the same frequency, like Foil, Nickel, or Pull Tab, causing a signal to lock in, or does the signal jump around on the visual and audio? I realize a double signal could indicate two targets; however, for my purposes, let's assume the gold is the only target.
:pulltab:
(I'm also using my Tesoro Lobo ST and STILL no gold!)

When I have dug gold with the Ace 250 it has bounced a little bit, but nothing drastic. The bouncing tended to only move one or 2 spaces to the left or right.

I would suggest a dry test with gold, likely will stay solid in a few of the disc. black slots.
To get a edge on finding gold try basebal/soccerl grass fields or vollyball over grass fields, doing the hunt after a rainfall may help.
But let's face it a pulltab is the same as gold the irony of this hobby. HH

If you want to concentrate a hunt on gold only you have to dig all nickel/foil/pulltabs no other way to beat the system...and concentrate in the center of a grass field also, but gold can be anywhere
and everywhere.

Thanks to all. Went out to an older high school ball field that looked unused for at least a year and made a trip around the tennis courts. $1.30 in clad, no gold, no silver. Grrrrr. Might hit a newly unearthed construction site tomorrow.

OK, you're using a Tesoro Lobo? That's a great gold finder as well as the Ace. You just have'nt passed over one-that's it period. Sometimes I listen for that little tic or bouncy ID thinking I may miss a gold ring when BAM it hits with a solid signal and I realize I was just so desperate for gold that I forgot how simple it was when I actually SWEPT THE COIL over one! The Ace gives a solid signal (in Relics or AM mode) on all but the tiniest gold rings.I have found one in Coins mode at zinc penny ID, but I'm usually in Relics mode.

Thanks. I am trying to stick with good solid signals from now on. Like any hobby, you get out of it what you put into it, so I am spending most free time detecting. I figure it's only a matter of time before I strike gold and you all will be the first to hear about it!
