Garrett Ace 250 vs Bounty Hunter Quich Draw II

Hey, I'm new to metal detecting and I was wondering, what is your opinion in a better detector for coin hunting? I just want a expert's opinion
thanks

Not an expert, but have owned both about a year I find about as much with one as the other. The Ace is alittle easy-er to use just turn on set to coin mode sens about 4 bars and go till you learn it then you can try different modes the bounty hunter a little more to learn but both good mds about same price too. good luck and hh

Can't help you. I've never owned a Bounty Hunter.
Price wise though I think your better off looking to garrett or Tesoro
or maybe Fisher. Just my opinion.

Everybody is comparing the Ace.

I happen to own the quick draw ll and the Ace. I also own BH discovery 2200 and have used BHer's for about 6 years.I am a fan of theirs, found some great stuff wt both BHer's.

Let me babble for a minute.

I've had the Ace for 16 days now and have used it every day since. About 50-60 hours on it,so far. I picked it up quickly because I have detected b4. I don't believe that would happen for anyone that has not detected. Here's one reason I say that.

I bought the ace of of craigs list for cheap, yet it is brand new. The guy told me told me he tried it a few times and could not figure it out,and that he found out it could take up to a year to learn. Not sure where he heard that but he was ready to get rid of it.

I dont agree with what he said ,,,but the quick draw is way easy to learn by far.(for someone that has never detected)

Now my opion on your question. The Ace is a far superior machine than the quick draw. First it has pin point, that is a huge difference. It also has a bigger stock coil. It will pick coins up deeper and wt better ID on most targets. In the long run it is better for coin shooting. That is if you can learn it.

The QD ll is very easy to learn, it is way lighter and will pick up coins up to 5"-6" with no problem. (thats were most are,but not all) Seperating targets is much easier wt the BH, its has a faster sound response. That is what makes it easier. Its very confusing when targets are close together for most.
I'm not bashin the BH its a great machine. But between these 2,, the Ace is a better unit.
Good luck

Ok, from what I am hearing in reviews and the features of the BH, I think I'll go with the BH QDII. I'll buy the Ace 250 later on as a backup detector
Thanks for all your help!

I was using a Bounty Hunter before I got pointed in the direction of an Ace 250. My Bounty Hunter was not working right so I started looking for a new detector. I was happy with the Bounty Hunter and decided to go with another. I called them up to discuss my choices. I had it narrowed down to two machines and one was a Quick Draw 2. I got a friendly rep and we chatted for 15-20 minutes. She kept repeating the phrase we don't support our older technology and directed me to a list of detectors that the company no longer repaired. One of my two choices was on this list. She was continually trying to sell me a more expensive detector. I said I would think about it and never really did. I began exploring the Internet for forums and found findmall. I read a bunch of posts but did not join to post myself. I ultimately bought an Ace 250. It is an amazing machine and I upgraded to a GTI 2500 a few months later paying for almost all of it with clad found with the Ace. I have not used my Ace in over a year now because I like the 2500 even more. I frequently loan it out and have had many offers to buy it. (I actually had two of them and sold one for about 60 dollars less than I paid for it.) I have had 3-4 dealings with Garrett customer service and every time they did whatever I asked and I was always happy afterward. None of these were for manufacturing defects but were for somewhat minor defects one or two of which might have even been my fault.

Do yourself a favor and buy an Ace 250.

Glad you decided on the Ace. Looks like the Ace cost about the same as the quick draw
but I think the Ace has more options and is much better made, in my opinion. Personally
I never liked the looks of Bounty Hunter. They look like cheap tin. Hope to see some of your
post on the board.
