Garrett Corp.

They should have packaged it with the 5 x 8" coil & cover, double edged digger and maybe the finds bag. Accessory coils are real value and create versatility. Look at what they list the big carry bag aka "soft case" for...who's running out to buy it? The other style garrett detector backpack is more useful and the 5x8" coil is priced close to the soft case. I'm not trying to sound negative but its just marketing. Give the end user some real value, they should always include the coil cover for the stock coil. Of course nobody is better at packaging pure kr@p than the big K Co. then claiming an inflated "value" for the accessories.
First thing I did after purchasing my ATP was order the 5x8", cover and 8 1/2 x 11" coil cover. If the had offered that little coil it would be "wow nice!".

BTW - my comment is not meant to be directed at you personally, but at the ho-hum marketing.

Yt its no problem , i didn't take it that way , i just figured i would bring it up to see how many people thought it was a good deal or not . thats all bro. I was thinking of getting the ATGold anyway , i already got the ATPro and wanted a nother one and figure it was a good deal compare to when i got my ATPro and got nothing with it .

Yeah. It's not a bad deal especially if you can work a deeper discount from the dealer. When a manufacturer offers an accessory package containing one key item that is at the top of the Th'ers list, then it's really compelling. Some times two coil promo packs pop up.

Sorry you're feeling that way. I kind of figured Garrett, for example, could be selling the AT Pro for a ton more dollars. They are not. More money for me to buy extra stuff. Darn good investment, that machine. Kind of like shopping for cars or pickups. You know what I'm talking about, things like accessories. Useful equipment. I shop for a car and want to know the equipment it has. Do I need other equipment? 4 cylinder or V6? Automatic or Manual transmission? Cameras, navigation system, Sirius, coffee maker? Enough already. What do I need on this bad boy to get the job done? Plans. What am I planning to do with it? It's happened to all of us at some time. It's happened to me. I call it shoulda, coulda, woulda. It happened after I bought my AT Pro. Shoulda got the Pro Pointer, coulda got the 2 coil package, woulda made it less expensive. I ended up with 3 coils along with 3 lower shafts and hardware, the Pro Pointer, 2 diggers (what a deal), camo pouch. What a mistake I made. I figured it out, in the long run, it woulda been cheeper as a package deal in the first place. Coulda saved a ton of money, woulda had it all together. It can be frustrating for sure. Now got to wait through bad weather, caught a cold that turned into pneumonia. Springtime, hurry on up. Hang tough my friend, we'll get through it. Woulda, shoulda, coulda. It all works out for the good in the end. Happy hunting.

I always wondered why most manufacturers did not include a coil cover automatically.

Then I realized it is a crazy cash cow for them.

Those things literally cost less than .25 cents to produce, and they sell them to us for $10, $15, and more (Minelab is the worst).

That is one heck of a markup and profit.

But they all know we want covers to keep our coil from wearing out so we pay for them.

What can you do?

Coil covers serve a purpose for some, not for everyone though. I hunt parks and schools until summer recreation takes over and then it's fresh water hunting. Coil covers on wet grass allow some of the water and debris to get between the cover and coil. For me, it's a pain in the tookus to take the cover off and clean it. I used silicone around the cover as a sealant. I ended up with a couple of defective coils on my other unit and it was a pain to clean up the silicone for a warranty replacement. Seeing as I don't get in rough stuff as a relic would, I just don't think a cover is actually a benefit. I love the camo bag. It's big enough to hold all my equipment, got that little zippered pocket inside so I don't worry about losing any gold jewelry I may find and it holds the Pro Pointer really well. I reckon accessories can't be everything to everyone, but Garrett sure do provide some dandies.
