Gday,

I just thought Id stop lurking and expose myself. :O

I really like this forum and as a (almost) new Etrac owner (should be tomorrow). I just wanted to introduce myself before I start asking stupid questions etc lol

I have done some gold detecting and previously had a SD2000 - SD2100 and a GPX4000. But living in Adelaide now the nearest gold worth chasing is 4 or 5 hours drive away and its just all become to hard when all i want to do is get out and have a swing on something, anything.

So after much reading I decided (with a mate) to buy an E-Trac and I have to hand it to you guys, your a great ad for the product, the helpful info here has been a good assistance in making a decision.

So hi and thanks and me and my friend Savagegoose who will probably sign up soon look forward to showing you some good Aussie finds.

Cheers :beers:

PS. we wish we had another couple of hundred years of history to draw on like you guys.

After reading your introduction, I jumped on Google maps to see where you

Thanks for the kind welcome.

Yes we have some great spots around Adelaide and its well worth going for a drive of an hour or so to the outer fringe small towns that have parks with histories going back to our first settlement days.

Beaches are also plentiful and very popular. In fact we were discussing having a go on the beach after dark since they are well lit anyway and we would be avoiding the day traffic. Anyone done anything like that ? I guess the other advantage we have is 300+ perfect days a year and of the other 65 its only heat or rain not -30 with windchill and rock hard ground.

I will be heading in to the Minelab SA Head Office this morning. I will certinaly pass on your regards )

The one thing Goose and I have been having a laugh about is how hard its been (even when I was buying gold detectors) to get hold of Minelab stuff in the very state and city where they originated. They have become quite corporate now they are with Codan and I have always had to buy my gear from interstate because dealign with them direct has been painful and unrewarding. Shame because its not the people, just the "system".

Also if it was possible I would have been buying my E-Trac from Kellys... Right now they are hundreds cheaper than any deal i can get in Australia and they throw in more accessories, but alas they wont ship to Oz.

All things being equal though we should be swinging it this weekend. :detecting:

Hi Razorback,

I'm from Adelelaide also (southern suburbs), etrac is a great machine, I've had mine about a year and love it. Just give it time and read Andy S's book........and get a long handled digger.

I mainly hunt parks for pre-decimals, not really a modern coin chaser, but I take them when I find them. The older the better for me.

If you need advice let me know and I'll be happy to help.

Cheers,
Greg

Sounds good, I'm in Blackwood myself.

PM anytime......nothing like talkin etrac in work time!!

Hope you and the etrac get along.

Cheers,
Greg
