Ghost Signals with Pro Coil?

RLOH

Well-known member
I bought a Pro coil for my Ex 11 when they first came out and used that coil for at least 400 hours. I never had any targets I couldn't find. I immediately noticed how much better it separates close targets. I sold that detector last winter and bought a used SE Pro. I used that detector for many, many hours and it behaved perfectly. The only quirk that I have found with this coil is with shallow targets(an inch or so deep) I found many of these coins pinpoint at least three inches away from the center of the coil. Both coils did this exact same thing ans I wonder if this is what guys are calling ghost targets. The next time you get one of these, try using your probe to see if there is something off center. Not being a smart !@@, but I would like to know what some are experiencing. Thanks R.L.

Ive often noticed deep targets sometimes fall to the rear and far right of the coil. But then, thats why its very important to center the target and wiggle it toward the front tip of the coil. Ive seen some big holes made by those that THINK they know where the target is. Also, you get a more accurate target reading when centered. The only ghost signals i get is off rusted cans or deep iron that tries to disappear when i dig it because of my disc... but using the pinpointer correctly never fails to locate what the target was.

Another thing to be aware of is coins on edge will sound off and pinpoint up to a few inches off to the side.If you are digging smallish holes you can miss them quite easily,Ray.

I have had signals a few times that i pinpointed, dug, used the X1 probe, pinpoint, and no pinpoint,
no target, even scan the hole with coil, two directions,No Signal.
Not very often, but has happened a few times.not sure why.

im always loosing dimes after i get them out of the hole. i just move the dirt around some and they start singing out loud and clear again.
