A real short hunt at an old permission yielded some interesting finds. A mule shoe sticking out of the dirt, a couple lead chunks, 3 rivets, a pocketknife side plate, a spoon fragment, nice little buckle and an intact I cuff button with a complete shank. Not pictured were all the scrap pieces. I was very pleased for less than an hour at a pounded home site.

Beautiful button!!

Nice button. I'm always hesitant to do much cleaning on the eagle buttons. I do have one that I used lemon juice on that came out well with about half the gilt still present. The mule shoe brought you luck.

Stellar finds in the old buttons. Wish we had better access to the era out here!
