Going from exll to etrac?

Hello, Im a three year Expll user and would like to hear from you Etrac users what It would do for me If I went from a Expll to a Etrac?

To be honest, not a whole lot. In my opinion, if you're proficient with the Explorer, the E-Trac may not have much more to offer.

The Pro coil is a nice upgrade from any of the previous Explorer coils, and you can add that to your current machine. Personally, I like the E-Trac interface and ID numbers better than the Explorer, and the processor is faster than the early Explorers (faster null recovery). Also the handle angle is better.

You will get a machine that is, in my opinion, easy to use and more accurate, faster and more stable.

I had an SE and have found more in a shorter period of time with the E-trac than I ever did with the SE.

My personal opinion from my experience is I had an EX2 but when I saw the Etrac and read in the magazine the article that Andy Sabisch wrote it sold me on trying one and I'm sure glad I did get one and I ended up selling my EX2. I love the bigger coins smartfind screen with the ferr and co no's with the preset 4 hunting modes which I use the coins mode already done from the factory. Now you get the no's and the cursor at the same time together on one screen.
I found the menu was intuitive to navigate through easily as only one button to push 9menu) then the 4 arrows on the face of the Etrac is what you use to move or change things so no long and somewhat confusing normal and advanced menu like in the EX2 to navigate.

I only have to push the iron mask button ONCE to go back and forth between the smart screen with the coins discrimination preset mode and the Iron mask screen not 3 times to switch back and forth from the smart screen to iron mask screen like on the EX2 so I can double check on iffy signals as I leave iron mask pretty much wide open like an all metal screen would be. Makes it a whole lot easier to tell a good from a bad target. If the cursor goes down into the lower right hand corner area it's iron don't dig.

In Andy's book it is said to leave TRASH in DIFFICULT mode and that is what gives the Etrac it's fantastic SEE THROUGH ABILITY it takes the good signal over the bad signal and lets it come through to the speaker even if the bad item is next to it or bigger than the good one.

Also it says to leave the GROUND MODE in DIFFICULT in the USA unless on white sand like a beach then go to NORMAL it has to to with mineralization in the soil in this country. Love the PRO coil too. Best decision for me as my coin count went sky high going to the same parks as before.

I traded in my 4 other brand name detectors for another Etrac so now I have 2 that is how much I love it. Fits me like a glove.

Great summary Etrac Tom! You hit the nail on the head. My coin count increases dramatically and I was going from an SE. My experience speaks volumes to me.

Haven't used the EXP II but I had the SE Pro and went to the E-Trac. No comparison in my opinion. The E-Trac pull hands full of old deep coins I missed with my SE.

if you dont mind digging deep holes get the etrac but be prepared if you want to get all the finds it keeps showing you SO MUCH EXTRA WORK hahaha great machine so much fun wow

I went from an Explorer to an E-Trac and I am really glad I did. I find the tones much easier to assess rather than the explorer which sounded like a calliope to me. The E-trac also is much lighter and you can pinpoint so much easier. To me the difference is night and day.

Just like raysgaard and everyone else said.
I also went from DFX to Explorer to Etrac,,,Im in luv with the Etrac.
Cant wait for unfrozen grounds.
good luck

I have used all the different Explorers and they are good, but now with the E-Trac it seems I do better and enjoy it so much more than the Explorers. The E-Trac seems to run smoother and hits on coins much better for me this also hold true in iron trash as i notice more coins with nails in the same hole with coins. The recovery is faster I feel and the conductivity numbers seem to be more accurate for me. As Minelab says it is not a Explorer so I find I run my E-Trac a bit different as with the Explorer I used ferrous tone because of nails, but with the E-Trac the conductivity tones work much better for me. On the Explorer i could never run semi auto sensitivity any higher than 20 as it any higher would not hardly pick a dime up on top of the ground, so i had to run manual most of the time. With the E-Trac I run the auto sensitivity at a +3 and it works great as the E-Trac I understand has a actual auto sensitivity where the Explorer didn't. Also I have 2 other guys around here that have E-Tracs and they both say this machine is hot on nickles as they find 10 times more than they did with the Explorers.
I find the deeper coins the ferrous numbers will be a bit jumpy, but seem to stay within the 8-18 with most around the 11-13, so if they are good sounding a deep and the conductivity number are close I will be digging.
As others have said I too am finding coins in some of the well worked site of the Explorers, just takes time and patience to learn the differences between the Explorer and E-Trac.
