Went out for a hunt to one of my usual places that I hadn't been to in awhile. Found a few wheats and clad. As per usual...I get a good signal 12-41. Dug this up and thought it was 18kt. When I got home cleaned it up more and was quirked a bit as I thought it was 18kt gold fill. Put it in my collection and really looked at it today....to find out it wasn't 18kt gold fill at all....it was 10kt and not gold fill. Some of those marks are really hard to see even with a really good lighted magnifying glass. In any case, I'm happy!
Also found a 1934 Canadian penny with a buddy of mine that took me to a site.
Ive been keeping good track of my numbers on the etrac. Whenever, it finds gold....it locks on....no jumping around. The numbers can be from 12-08 to 12-42 but it locks on. I have dug thousands of holes looking for that deep ring or coin, when the numbers jump around,,,its a pull tab or similar, most of the time. Other things can lock on as well...but usually number give them away as what they are. Also, it seems like the better the target, the more stable the signal is and the more consistent the numbers are....so generally speaking... lousy signal and numbers... equate to a lousy target.
I'm sure there are exceptions to this but generally speaking this it what happens when I use the etrac.
