I have found about 50 rings in the past year hunting mostly in parks and sports fields.Twenty gold and 30 silver(one platinum). Not one of them was over 4 inches deep. On average I would say they were about two inched deep. Of course rings and other things we like to find can be at most any depth that our machines can detect. I use a Bigfoot DD coil. It covers a lot of ground but it is not as deep seeking as the stock coil on my MXT. That being the case I'll trade the inch or two of depth gained with the stock 950 coil for the coverage I get with the Bigfoot any day. When I switched to the Bigfoot coil my gold and silver jewelry finds doubled.
