gold panning

I don't even know where that river is, but my initial thought is that if folks know about gold in a river, all the easy stuff is gone. I'd head out there and get my pan wet if I were you! You might get Lucky!
And it isn't always about just gold-theres lots of other pan-able minerals in the rivers.
 
There might be more than one Kankakee river in the US but the one here in Illinois hasn't produced any gold that I have heard of, but you never know :shrug:
