Gold Plated...Bummer!

Hello Everyone,
Got out today (3-1-11) for a couple of hours. Hit 2 lots that I have hammered and pulled out some good silver. First lot found a black '64 Rosie, was in Preps set up and got a chirp (37-38 with a hit on 36 coming out of PP mode) in an area of nulling. Switched to AM mode and heard it again between -10s and -9s. Took a good minute to isolate it in PP mode. Dug the Rosie at about 7-8 inches. Also got a wheat and the base of a lead soldier and a '47 nickel.
Headed to my honey-hole since the mowers were gone. Started hitting wheats right off the bat. (4 total) Got a 17-18 signal, pin pointed it and got a quick bump to 16 when I switched out of PP mode. I was thinking pull tab, but I had not found a lot of trash here so I decided to dig. Boy was I surprised when I saw a gold colored bracelet come out of the hole. There was an emblem that was in the hole as well. It fits nicely on the bracelet. Unfortunately it was marked 10kt GP. Got a 37-38 with a touch of 39. Showed deep at 9 inches, so I was thinking dime probably at about 5 inches. Sure enough, nailed it (Merc). Two feet further and I got the other Rosie. Similar numbers. Had to get going, but I will hit it again.
Thanks for looking.
HH,
Bunker

Great finds Bunker!! The RG (Rolled Gold) or gold plate items gets the old ticker thumping hard :crazy:when you see that glint as your digging! I'm always looking for that gold coin or better still, a cache of gold coins to jump out at me and then I hope the paramedics are around to jump start my heart as I go into shock!!!!:yikes:

Bunker-
Where are you from? You always seem to find old stuff... do you hunt only in areas that are older... are they abandon? or just old parks, homes, etc?
Appreciate it- trying to learn from the Pro's...

Thanks Goldstrike, It was a shock, it was dirty and I couldn't read it. The weight didn't feel right so I was prepared when I got home and finally read the back. before I cleaned it I tried the magnate and it would just barely stick or move towards it. But for a little while my heart was pumping!!

Wesgtt...I am located down here in the beautiful Tampa Bay Area. Not a lot of real old history like up north. I hunt mostly parks, older home yards, basically any dirt/grass I can find ie, Churches etc. Of course I always get permission. Seems like I am getting some referrals now. One neighbor sees me and the next thing I know I am lining up other spots. Best of luck, looking forward to seeing some of your posts.

Thanks Ken, really had to work for that Rosie. Couple of months ago I would have just kept on walking. Tomorrow will be one year since I got my Safari. Am running the stats, should be interesting to see the evolution.

Bunky- Well, in that case, I hope your 1 yr anniversary rewards you with a truly exceptional find. Amazing the trivial stuff and sports stats that the male mind can recall on demand...and on the other hand, the family dates that we can't. My Safari 1 yr anniversary will be Mar 25....there ya have it

No. no. no Sir- you are doing awesome-- I've learned a lot from you when we've gone out and I enjoyed every minute. That is great stuff you've found and WOW all the silvers......................amazing. And in only a short amount of time..........................
