For the Manticore, here are where the tabs (N=64) and gold rings (N=40) fall.
I have Manti set up to emphasize the gold ring range and minimize the tab range. If you cherry pick, one strategy for the Manti is to minimize 0-9 and 30-47; for me this means lower tones (I still might dig it depending on situation). I emphasize 10-29 and 47-99; meaning for me higher tones and dig signals. Using these limits, you avoid 77% of tabs while missing 17.5% of gold rings. There is always a trade-off with cherry picking. Of course on low tab beaches you can dig every signal. On beaches with LOTS of tabs, you simply can't dig every signal but cherry picking based on the above strategy may be beneficial. Also, on more recent data/finds, I have found 22-24k rings in the upper 80s, same as quarters. Silver rings also seem to populate the 50s-70s, where many cents are found. I also hardly ever dig bottle caps anymore with the Manti because it, usually, gives a clear "bottle cap" (inverted S, or smear from ferrous range to center) 2-D image and "grunts" as the coil tip is moved away from the target. The exception seems to be with gold foiled covered caps (Michalob?). Wondering if anyone ever found a gold ring that had a 2-D image like a bottle cap?
