Good pinpointer

If you need completely waterproof, I have a vibra-quatic 2 that works quite well. They take a couple seconds to turn on and off however so they are not my favorite. My favorite pin pointers are Garrett Pro Pointers and they are weatherproof and many people have modded theirs to be water proof. The Pro-Pointer is IP66 rated, so you can get it wet. If you are looking for something do dive with, however, I would recommend waterproofing a Pro-pointer as first choice or going with something in the vibra series as a second choice. Good luck and let me know what you end up going with. HH -Marc

A friend bought a Vibra Probe last year and I don't care for it at all. Lousy depth. Feels cheap. Etc. I too would recommend waterproofing the Garrett ProPointer. It's a much better pinpointer and I simply won't hunt without one now, it's that great. You can cover the speaker hole with rubber cement and put a rubber O-ring under the screw in battery cap and that should do the job to completely waterproof it.

If you're planning on using it in saltwater, the garrett is not a good idea. I usually don't use my propointer on the beach, but on some rare occassions I have needed it. From my own experience, it will false like crazy in saltwater (much as it does when you press the tip too hard). Freshwater, it think a bagged/waterproofed pro pointer would be great.

I also agree with the above comment. Why don't you let us know where you plan to use the pin-pointer, that might answer the question as to what you want/need.

Also, you have to put rubber cement around the LED light to waterproof it I think. Some people use a vacuum bag (those things meant for storing food) to waterproof the ProPointer. That way you don't have to put any rubber cement on it.

I plan on using the pinpointer for relic hunting. The place I go(battle of Chippawa) is always muddy and wet. - thanks

I definitely don't think the vibra probe feels cheap, much sturdier then the propointer, I own both and I agree unless saltwater or underwater get the propointer.
