Got a little time on my F75 this morning.

I don't get to use the F75 LTD enough and it sure is nice when I can.

I'm still looking for a 10" eliptical concentric for it but in the meantime I gave my new 5x10 DD coil a whirl.

Looking for gold in a trashy turf spot by a parking lot I had previously hunted with a little the F44. I Had the disc raised to max, then notched back in high foil, the nickel range, and low tabs. The Delta Pitch audio has a very rich sounding middle low tone for that range of targets that I love to listen to. Normally I run my sensitivity pretty low, but the 5x10 DD coil needs a little ump, so I had it in JE at 99 Sensitivity and that setting seemed to work real well for this site and coil. Lot of trash and lots of high tone hits, pits and spitzes but I ignored all of those and just listened for those repeatable rich sounding middle low tones. I find I can really groove on that sound. Reminds me somewhat of a cello. Anyway... I like that tone range.

Lot of trash but the 5x10 DD cut through it pretty good. I found one good target, a small, hollow gold earring loop with a gold and silver dolphins formed in it. I didn't take time to look at the TID number I just heard the tone and retrieved it. Pretty sure it was a high foil though. I'll have to go check later. Put the loop on it after I got home and it read .925 + 10K PP. Ok, not gold, but gold plated silver. I'll still take it.

Anyway. Fun to get out with a favorite detector. I'm off tomorrow so I think I get out again with it andt the 10x14 DD coil this time, cover some ground and see if I can't pop a ring.

Thanks Elton,
Yesterday morning wasn't quite as fun. Put the 10x14 DD on the F75 and headed out to an athletic field to see if I could pop a ring, but the EMI wasn't friendly to that coil combination. Started off kind of ok but the EMI just got worse and worse and it got harder and harder to hear real targets. I finally just gave up. That coil was just too big an antenna for that area, even at 0 sensitivity. I should have brought another coil with me but I didn't think it would be that bad. No rings found but I did recover about 6 nickels. I think that was about it, 6 nickels and about 6 tabs was all I could pull out of the noise. At the end I couldn't even hear the low tones.

I think I'll regulate that coil to the ETPro. It likes it well enough.

Try as I might I just can't get comfortable using DP.
I do use it from time to time and I found my best coin ever in this mode, a Peace dollar, but I seem to get along with other modes better so far. I have noticed that using big coils, most coils actually, the lower tone selections seem to deal with noise and EMI much better than the higher ones with more solid and stable signals over good targets.
I use 2F and especially 1F a lot.
Gotta watch the screen in these but I got used to it.

I guess some coils just are not usable with the F75 in heavy EMI areas. Have you experienced that scenario with any other coils Mike ?

A large antenna does have a way of picking up EMI. And at 0 sensitivity and still causing problems it must have been severe for sure.

I hope people remember this post, and when attempting to use that model coil they have another coil as a back up. As knowledgeable as you are everyone needs to take notice.

Yeah, EMI is my worst enemy. I usually take another coil but for some reason didn't even think about it that day. All I thought about was how great that coil was going to cover the ground.

Sometimes the 11" DD will get a little noisy. The 5x10 DD has always been a quiet coil. The 10" eliptical concentric is generally a quiet coil, although there are spots where it picks up some noise too.

Pretty soon all the mfg's of high gain units will have to shift their operating frequencies again to continue to deal with the ever growing electrical interference problem.

yeah,
Delta Pitch is hard to use in trash but I was using it for a selected, notched in section and it worked great for that. The target range I wanted to focus in really stood out in the midst of all the hgih tones that I couldn't disc out with the F75.

EMI problems Thomas Dankowski (NASA Tom) recommends using the DE mode & dic set at 5 but not higher than 19 because the high gain kicks in if you have the dic lower than 5 or higher than 19. The JE mode is a high gain no matter what dic you have it in. Also changing the the frequency will sometimes help just find one with the least amount of interferences. In high trash areas I like to use the 2H or the 2F tones helped me to find two clad quarters right off. Best of finds to all of you.

You had it in high gain mode and DP tone and it does do well in certain situations. I have never dug many deep targets in that mode. But I run in high gain whether I use JE mode or Disc below 5 so I hear everything. Trash has a way of masking targets and I hunt the same spots so I keep the areas clean. I just dont need depth in a tot lot lol.

Now I need a 3 tones and any mode will just about work the same for max depth. I usually confirm targets for my buddys T2 and Etrac, You are dead on about some coils have emi issues. I found the coil I sent in for upgrade works best in hi emi areas. I wish I had sent my other coils in to as I read they are using extra shielding in the new coils to help with emi. But the upgrade has really made my F75 everything I want in a detector. Have to say I am a little jealous of the etrac 2 screen feature. I have considered a smaller football coil I have seen. I know the small coil on my AT Pro eats the trashy areas I just dont want to take the F75 in. But I run the F75 over the same areas on old ground and I get the deep stuff after trash is gone.

I highly recommend getting a 10" eliptical concentric coil. As soon as i put one on my F75 Ltd 2, I began to notice that the bottlecap registering as coins fell off dramatically.
I also found 3 early 1900s canadian silver coins at about 7-8 inches...which I had passed over many times with a noisy 11" DD, and even smaller 5 and 6 inch football DD coils.

I got a great deal on a used F70, and the 10" eliptical concentric coil came with it. Now I have a back-up detector, and the coil i wanted.

Same here with my F5 and the stock 10" concentric. As soon as I started using the 11 DD coil, all the bottle caps suddenly appeared. Also, Canadian dimes and quarters show up in the iron range with the DD. No such issues with the concentric. In my mineralized soil though the concentric just can't punch very deep it seems.
