Got in a full 5 hour hunt today at the beat to death ball diamond...and the silver STILL popped out:thumbup:

I hardly ever get more than 2 to 3 hours per hunt in but I'll be cooped up for a few days so I went for the whole afternoon. I didn't even clean these goodies off as you can see.. cause' I'm going to be late for work:crylol:. I figured I'd give the 10 x 14 Excelerator coil a spin today...and man did it pick some goodies out of a pretty trashy area... AND on edge:thumbup:. The first thing I dug was a merc down about 8" ...the pressure was gone now...cause' I would have been VERY happy with just one silver coin from this ball diamond. It has been beat to death for 30 years by every detectorist known to man...AND his dog. About 45 minutes later I got a very sweet sounding "bouncer" accross the top...BUT it kept weaseling it's way back to the top right corner...so I dug. Out popped the SLQ :surprised:...yippee! After that...coins just kept popping out. Most of these coins were on edge or at least tilted...but this coil always finds me something because "on edge" coins are it's specialty. Dug quite a few wheaties...the wedding band...2 mercs...2 roosevelts...the SLQ...the saq. dollar coin...and the sterling silver charm. A 5 silver afternoon:super: ...that almost never happens anymore at the worn out sites I hunt. I sincerely am happy if I can find just ONE silver coin at my beat up sites. Man I LOVE this hobby. One of my main goals this year is to find a SLQ with a date. After 30 years of hunting...still don't have one:shrug:. This one is STILL a thrill as is ANY slq...cause' they don't pop out often. This is only my second one in the last 5 years...so I'm thankful:angel:

there's still some stuff there to be found if you go very slow...and are willing to sift through some iron infested spots. I also willing to investigate a lot of one way "peeps". I dug tons of trash...but was late for work last night and didn't have time to scan it.

What would Bryce do? Investigate one way peeps! I have started digging the the one way peeps, and it is paying off. More junk as expected, but worth the extra weight in the pouch for those beautiful silvers that are found. In the past, I have had to have a beep in at least two directions and that has cost me some good finds, I'm sure. Thanks for the great advice Bryce.

Five silvers and handful of wheats makes for a great day off of work in my book. Congratulations Bryce.

as you said....a lot more silver too:thumbup: I was a "two beep" guy for a long time too...but now if it sounds sweet enough in just one direction...I'm a diggin':detecting:

I see the old silver king is at it again, nice finds. I wondered when you were going to pull out that 10 X 14 coil and see what it would do. Work has been keeping me busy latley, so i havn't had a chance to get out. Phil

That loud "sucking" sound is not jobs going over seas and to other countries, it's Bryce out metal detecting. If you noticed, I didn't get close to you while detecting at the club hunt, I value my silver fillings in my teeth :bouncy: As a matter of economic sense, I'm personally grateful you were not born 149 years ago, otherwise the Comstock Lode in Nevada would have never been discovered, you would have found it all... When I read the "Wall Street Journal" I find myself looking for my favorite COMEX stock, "BRYCESLVR". As everyone should know, they stopped minting the 2008 Silver Eagle .999% silver dollar because the U.S. Mint ran out of silver. And I bet I know why :clapping:

Put that in your excelerator coil and smoke it buddy :crylol: Nice finds Bryce and let's get together again soon!!!!!!

Put a nail on a dime and see if you get a two way signal- or at least 90 degrees apart. Not a chance. Only from one angle. Lots of iron falsing behaves the same, only way to know is to dig.

The coins that hit from all directions were dug with a guy with a Radio Shack detector 20 years ago.

Chris

I have one of those coils and had it out once.I spent allweekend trying to find silver and dug a lot of nails and found a little silver.Good luck on your next hunt.

You did very well for such a short hunt. I would go back as soon as possible, there's much more for you waiting. Congrats on that Standing Liberty Quarter. Hope to see you post one with a Date real soon. Don't you just love surprises??? Continued Success, Good Luck and HH.:super:

25 deep pieces of trash if I can pop out 5 silver coins on edge along with it:super:
You will definately dig a lot of trash chasing deep iffy hits...but many times the rewards are well worth it. Good luck on your next outing.

Thanks Dennis. I'm not spendin' $4 per gallon for gas to road trip your way again...unless you promise to bring me a couple of those egg/ham sandwiches:detecting:

disappeared with 99 cent per gallon gas many years ago.:crylol: The key to finding deep silver at a pounded site for me is a good machine...good coil selection...movin' very slow....and investigating one way peeps that you feel have a shot at being a keeper. True...you will fill your pouch with more rusty nails and iron junk...but I'll dig 25 pieces of iron crap...if I can put more 5 silver deepies in my pouch that I would have otherwise left for someone else to dig up:thumbup:

You don't know unless you dig. I used to circle the hole 2 or 3 times like a moron:rolleyes: Any more....I spend a little less time a circlin'...and a little more time a diggin'
