Got my 5 Silver and then some this Weekend. 308 Silver and counting for the Year! A bit Long! Part:1.:detecting:

Did a bit of jumping around this Weekend at different sites. Hit a Fairgrounds where I pulled a Barber Quarter from not long ago. Was a bit too cold out in the open but found a few Wheat's and a Silver War Nickel dated 1942-s. I decided to leave since something told me to go back and re-hunt an Old Ball Diamond where earlier this year I found 2 Walkers in about 3 hours if I remember right along with some other finds. Started hunting this site on Saturday about 10:00am and wasn't finding much. Decided to go around back behind the Fence in the Outfield and give that a try. Every time I have gone back there, I have dug nothing but Junk. Well! Not this time! Just got behind the Fence and got a Screamer of a Signal that read 28 that was 3/4th's the way down the Depth Meter. Dug a Plug and seen a Quarter. Previously I was thinking how nice it would be to find another Barber Quarter before the Snow Hits. Anyways, about 15 Minutes Later, I get this Signal and a Quarter, and wouldn't you know it, it's an 1899 Barber Quarter. For some reason, I have a Sixth Sense where if I think about finding a certain Coin, I find one and it happens most of the time. As I looked at the Quarter, I just couldn't believe that of all the places, that one would be still here to be found. Covered the Hole and walked 2 steps and got another Signal. This time a 27. Dug it and an Indian Head dated 1907. Now I was getting excited! Started hunting again and didn't find much for awhile except a couple Wheaties and a 1941-d Jefferson Nickel. Then I was heading out into the Outfield and thought, "now all I have to do is find a Silver Washington Quarter and I will have the Quarters pretty much filled this Month ( 2 Barber, 1 Standing, 2 Canadian). Went around the East Side of the Fence where the Foul Pole is and walked in about 6 steps. Just as I turned the corner, I found a Wheatie which surprised me since the last time I was there, I pounded this area because I found a Silver Quarter in the area. Anyways, walking in and got a Deep Signal that was bouncing a bit but I was getting 28 on it most of the time. Dug down and about 9"+, another Quarter pop's out. 1942 Washington! I almost started jumping for joy when I seen what it was. Found a few more Wheat's and was thinking, "sure would be great if I could pull a Barber Dime now". Well, before I decided to go, I did exactly that. A nice 1906-d Barber Dime finally showed up in about middle of the Outfield. This was about 8" Deep. I left soon after that. Sunday, I hit a few sites. A Fairgrounds that I have been meaning to try, and 2 Parks. Got out at the Fairgrounds and dug a Wheatie right off the bat. Then got up be one of the Buildings and got a Deep 28 with the Stock Coil. It was a Signal that was there but not a 100% sure bet on it being a Coin. Dug it and a 1917-d Standing Liberty Quarter pop's out! I almost crapped myself on that one! Got the Joey on and started hunting. Got a few more Wheat's, 2 Merc's (got 2 holes this Weekend that had a Merc along with a Wheat with them, one was a '20 Merc with a '18-d Wheat, and the other was a '25 Merc with a '25 Wheat). I also found a Foreign Coin here that I thought was a Silver Coin at first. It's made of Aluminum. A neat Old Butterfly Pin was also found at this Fairgrounds. After awhile, I decided to go to a different site to try and get me a Half Dollar. Went to the site that has produced Silver before and I got a Signal that would show Half on Smart Find but only about 50% of the time. I knew there were 2 Targets under my Stock Coil so I focused my attention on the Target that would give a Half Reading on Smart Find and change. Dug that Target and there She Was! Was hoping for Barber but can't be picky about Halves. Got a nice 1943 Walking Liberty Half! Decided to leave after that find due to someone else's stupidity. I found 3 Open Holes at this site! I sure wasn't going to stick around and get blamed for them so I tried to cover them up as best as I could before I left. I then hit a Park that has produced Silver before also. Drove in and noticed the Ball Diamond Fence was taken out. Bingo! Went behind the Fence in the back and got a 28-30 with the Stock Coil that sounded Good but didn't have that Coin Icon that I like to see. Dug it anyways and that is where the '25 Merc and '25 Wheat came from. Then, I started for the benches and started finding Wheat's. The Fence was a Chain Link Metal Fence so these Coins were hid. I then dug a Merc. Then I found an Indian Head. Before I left due to it getting Dark, I had a Hot Streak going which was odd since it just started happening as the Sun was going down. Got a Merc, then a Rosie, then a Wheat, another Merc, and an Indian Head, all in about 5 Minutes. I can tell you that I was a bit ticked off since it was getting Dark out and the detector was starting to get a little haywire from Electrical Interference. Might have to go back if the weather cooperates. So onto the finds. Sorry about the LONG READ! Silver Total was 13. Only had 3 on Saturday and thought that I was going to get a major butt kicken' this Weekend but it all turned out. I found 1 Walking Liberty Half Dollar dated 1943, 1 Barber Quarter dated 1899, 1 Standing Liberty Quarter dated 1917-d (Variety 2), 1 Washington Quarter dated 1942, 1 Barber Dime dated 1906-d, 7 Mercury Dimes dated 1920,1924,1925,(2)1943-d,1944,1945-d, and 1 Roosevelt Dime dated 1948-d. For Nickels, I found 1 Silver War Nickel dated 1942-s and 1 Regular Jefferson Nickel dated 1941-d. The Foreign Coin reads Repvbblica Italiana on one side and on the other reads 5 1968. The Indians, Wheat's, and Misc. will be in Part:2. Thanks for looking and Good Luck and HH to you all.:detecting:[attachment 72333 DirtySilver.jpg][attachment 72358 CleanedSilver.jpg][attachment 72336 DirtyNickels.jpg][attachment 72365 CleanedNickels.jpg][attachment 72339 DirtyForeignCoin.jpg][attachment 72366 CleanedForeignCoin.jpg]

Here is the rest of the finds. I found 3 Indian Heads dated 1889,1897, and 1907. They are in Rough Shape but I'll take em'. For Wheat Pennies, I found 28 more. They are dated 10,11,14,18-d,19-d,19-s,(2)20,24,25,25-d,28-d,29-d,34,34-d,36,4?,40-d,41,41-d,42-s,(2)44-d,46-d,48-d,49-d,50-s, and 58-d. The Misc. Finds include an Old Tube Of Lip Stick that reads on the bottom "Kathleen Mary Quinlan Inc. Distributor New York" and has something like a Flower Design on the top, an Old Thimble that reads "Empire Milkers And Water Systems", part of an Old Cuff Link with a Flower Design on it, an Old Button with Flowers, a Copper Ring, and a Butterfly Pin. I hope you enjoyed this round of finds and as always, Good Luck and HH to you all on your next outings. Thanks for Looking![attachment 72367 DirtyIndians.jpg][attachment 72368 CleanedIndians.jpg][attachment 72369 DirtyMisc..jpg][attachment 72370 CleanedMisc..jpg][attachment 72372 DirtyWheats.jpg][attachment 72373 CleanedWheats.jpg]

It's kind of weird! For some reason, I get these impulses that I feel like I'm going to find this amount of Coins or find a certain Coin that I need for the month. It doesn't always happen but I can bet you that it happens about 50% of the time I go out hunting. I remember a time that I and Randy were out detecting and we just pulled up into a School Yard in a town. We were sitting there in the Car eating and I was taking in what was there at that site. The Tree's were old enough but the School was newer. As I was looking around, I looked at the Merry Go Round and told Randy that there was something next to it, and that it was going to be a good find. We got out and I headed over to the Merry Go Round. I got about 2' away and got a Deep 28. Dug it and a 1911-d Barber Quarter with Full Liberty popped out. I then went back to the Car to see what the value was on the Coin. Randy asked what I found and I showed him. He couldn't believe that I was right about finding a Great Coin over by the Merry Go Round and of all the Coins it was a Barber Quarter. We found Indians and other Coins as well but I will never forget that time when I somehow knew I was going to make a Great Find and I called it and Randy was witness to it. Next time out Daveo, just think Positive. Just keep running in your mind that you want to find say a Barber Dime or what ever it may be. Think rational about Coins you know are in your area and you never know, You may get some Vibes just like I do and make them Coins appear in front of you. Just like Rick(ND) says all the time, "he's just plain Lucky". Thanks for the reply and Good Luck and HH to you.

Looks like you did well again and wish I could have been with you, but then again when I do no one finds much of anything do they?
I used to do the same thing as you are doing years ago and I put a certain coin in my mind and let the detector go where it wanted to and sure enough that coin would show up shortly. I lost that touch it seems and you got it now, but it may come back to me again. Seems my health is getting a little better lately and will have to get ready to kick a$$ in the spring.

I would have asked for you to come along but I was going from one site to another and didn't know where I was going to be. Let's hope for an early Spring so we can get out and hit some of these spots. Good Luck and HH!:detecting:

The Coins are still in alot of the sites but a person really has to work hard for them. I have been in a Lucky Streak for quite a long time and hope it continues for many years to come. For that to happen, it's going to take a large amount of New Sites so we will have to see what the Future holds. Good Luck and HH.

starting to hit those 8" to 10" coins I have been dreaming of. I don't care if they're wheaties...injuns...silver...or what...I'm finally reaching the depths I need to in order to find the good stuff....so I can't wait til next year. I'm sure I will get a few more little 2 hour hunts in...but no more longer ones.
Anyway..nice finds and I know they don't come easy like many think...at least mine don't.

around here. You have all the silver around this area picked and piled up in your house... I did get out for a bit and managed a few pieces of silver this weekend (all Barber dimes) and a few Indians, with a V-Nickel thrown in the mix. Deer hunting this Friday, maybe have to throw the orange on and go detecting Saturday as it is supposed to be in the 50's. Nice job on the silver!! HH!

Those are some sweet coins.Glad to see you still out.One of these days you are going to have to move because you wont have any new places to hunt.HA HA great finds and good luck on your next hunt.

This is the nicest Walker that I have found. I found one a few years ago that was close but this one beats it by far. Lots of detail and the edge of the Coin is still nice and square instead of the usual rounded edged Coins that have been circulated for awhile. Thanks for the reply and Good Luck and HH to you.:detecting:

But I think it will be awhile before that happens. I still have 100's of spots to check out. Knowledge Is Power! Glad you liked my finds and hope you have some Good Luck and HH on your next outing. :)

I figured that I best leave that part of North Dakota open for you guys. And besides, one cannot expect to find it all. There are WAAAAAAY too many sites to hunt and I'm getting my share just like you fella's are so I can't complain. I can bet what kind of Site you were hunting to find them Coins too, but we'll keep that secret. Keep them finds coming Mike and Good Luck and HH up until the next meeting. :detecting:

You are going to do very well next year. I can tell that just by your latest postings. In fact, you may give me a Run For The Money next season even though it's not a Competition thing, it's just fun going out and digging them Old Coins that haven't seen the light of day for a very long time. It's Great to see what everyone else is finding also! Continued Success, Good Luck and HH.

Don't find them in that kind of shape. I hope to find more before the ground starts to freeze but if not, there is always next season. Glad you liked the Weekend Haul and Good Luck and HH on your next adventure out detecting. :yo:

and known exactly where it was, I would have done that No Problem with a Slam. I didn't even think about what I had much. In fact, I didn't even know how many Silver I had until I got home. Wish I would have since I may have been able to think Seated and possibly pulled a Dime or Quarter, but Seated Coins are tough to find around here. Sure is tough to find 3 different types on the Quarters in a Weekend, that is for sure. Truly Awesome Finds, YES, they sure are. Hope you have some Good Luck and HH in your area on your next outing.:detecting:
