Got my THIRD Barber quarter in two weeks but.....

that was about it.:crylol:

The cold reality of 7 hours at a completly beat to death park finally slapped G and I in our mugs.:smoke: :stars:

I mean to tell you what you see is IT...only 3 coins in 7 hours...along with 4 or 5 little piece of iron...and the beautiful wedding band you see pictured.

No good stories...no gloating by G:biggrin:...as he really got nothing to tease me with on this day other than a few wheaties.:beers:

I went over 2 hours at a couple of points before even getting a decent signal to check out...and even then I was pretty sure it was crap:cool:..hence the few little iron pieces I dug.

In my 35 years of hunting...this is the hardest I have ever worked to find a couple of keepers.

Both pieces of silver were at 10" deep and the 1884 Injun' was at 9" deep.

When the 1884 Injun came out of the ground...I thought it was the nicest one I'd ever dug. I made the mistake of rinsing it with water...something I will NEVER do again...because it ruined it.

After G headed out...I was bound and determined to get a clad hit just so I would remember what a coin sounded like.

Funny thing was that I hunted another hour..and never even got a clad hit.

Don't get me wrong...I'm not complaining...because I found some keepers...but it's getting tough anymore.

Thanks for viewing and I hope you all had a good weekend.

Still great digs Bryce. been years since i have been able to scare up a barber quarter. Congrats.

I feel your pain Bryce, some days it just seems pointless and then BAM - you find a good one! WTG keep on swingin'. HH
That's exactly the was it was for me yesterday Bryce..... no targets worth looking at then BAM!!! Congratulations on the 3 keepers.
How did you ruin the IH with water? Just curious. Gold Nuggets

Bryce,

I usually can sneak a few new coins out of old sites every spring. Short grass, high moisture, perhaps the freeze/thaw cycle moved some stuff around. Now that the grass is getting going it gets much tougher. Time for you to knock on some doors.

Chris

Hey, Bryce, can you tell us what effect the water had on your Injun? I am one that would not think twice about rinsing any coin, even a keeper. Is that all coins or just the Injun?

Great finds. A barber quarter still eludes me. But maybe some day.

Sometimes I think a park is completely cleaned up just because of a real slow day. Then the next trip seems to make things look a little more promising.
I may be wrong but try it again a little later and see what happens.

Someone must have spent a lot of money on that Ring and I bet they were really shaken up by it's loss.:poke::rofl: Seriously though...nice find with the Barber Quarter. I also have hunted sites that just don't yeild much of anything anymore an it seems that if your lucky to pull at least one keeper from it during the day, you did well, so I know what your were going through on that hunt. At least you got 2 Silver Coins and an Injun and didn't get totally skunked. I bet Guv never got any big Silver this time so you got the goody this time around. Congrats on the few finds and hope you have better luck next time. Good Luck and HH to you!

Hi - Three Barber quarters in a couple weeks is quite a haul -- I've found lots of Barber dimes, a few SQL's and even a Seated Q before I found my first Barber Q last summer. What's the story with that "ring?" Best, Erik

Brother...you and I need to fill her in about the soda delivery process:smoke:
When 2 fellers' are a huntin'...and gettin' thirsty...what the heck good does it do for the delivery person to bring the cold rootbeer AFTER we already made the trip to the "sodie" machine:bouncy:
She's got to get with the program here:crylol:
Man...she's gonna walk up and crush that rootbeer on my head next time I see her:stars:

Nice finds there Bryce and you are kicking butt on the barber quarters.:clapping: I feel your pain about the keepers getting few and far between and that's the sad part about our wonderful hobby knowing the fact that the old silver will never be replenished. There is still a ton of the old stuff out there. It's just a matter of doing our research and finding the right spots. Good luck on your next outing my friend. HH.

Eddie

Bryce ,Glad I stayed at home .Congrats on the barber quarter and the cool ring. I did not have much better luck then you did !! Their was 2" of hickory nut hulls all over the park need I say more !!! Have a Good one and Good luck on your next hunt !!!

hunting a pounded site...trying to squeeze one more goody out. As long as I find just one keeper...I'm happy:
Sooner or later it's gonna dry up though...just like you said:confused:thumbup:
Take care my friend

I can picture it's loss now.....they probably glanced at the ground for it...and that's where the search ended:rofl:
