Got told to leave a spot today!!

Says clearly removal of anything from property is strictly prohibited. FYI, Im on your side, just pointing that out.
Not arguing but, I believe they are talking about their property. Such as parts of the building or other mail crates and what have you. Just because there are things in their ground doesn't mean they own them as they technically belong to the person who lost them. My opinion only, but maybe I'll call my daughter, who is an attorney and get her take on the wording. HH, Jim.

Thats correct. Removing property mainly refers to theft of received but not delivered mail, property exclusively owned by USPS, or any other property inside the building or attached to the building. There simply has to be public access to the main postal lobby, thus and unless they can prove damage to the (ground) property then any reports to be investigated would be by the local authority.
Here is a small piece of quirky info too. Once mail has been delivered to an approved mail box it is still property of USPS, if you add anything into the box it is tampering with USPS mail. How many of us have slipped something into a mailbox at the home owners request so they could get access to it later? Keys, birthday party invites, maybe a catalog for your neighbor who asked for it etc etc. Technically the carrier can seize that property and return it to the PO for investigation or destruction. Doesnt happen often but it is a violation of Fed Code. One reason why we have a locked box that only we have a key.

SMH. Another goodie is that the post office is supposed to be closed after normal business hours, except as otherwise ordered, and ours is open 24 7. I believe I've seen it all now. HH.Jim

Personnel on duty or the lobby is open 24/7? I know lobby is open to deposit mail or retrieve POBox delivery....... just curious

If doors are open and one could access behind counter I would call the locals who in turn call the responsible person listed for the facility. Trust me, someone in there will be answering a bunch of questions in the Post Masters office the next morning. That the Postal Inspector General gets a copy of......

This isn’t about fear. It’s about following rules from an entity that could make your life hell.
My approach would of been asking the postal employee on duty instead of just showing up and start arguing. The approach can make your day or break it.
Good luck as I feel you are going to need it.

Everyone has an opinion, but I go by what is legal or not legal. If you read their own rules and policies, which there is a link to in this thread, there is nothing in them not allowing metal detecting. You should also read Ronstars opinion on this subject as he is retired law enforcement. HH Jom

Might be a good thing that you knew the post officer worker. I personally don't mess around with Federal property. HH Jim tn
Me neither. I thought it would be pretty obvious.

The only thing I know is if they don't have a rule or law against it then you can do it. Just because it's the USPS doesn't change that fact. As I said before, read Ronstar's opinion as he is retired law enforcement and has dealt with these things. Jim

My wife works for the Post Office here in Virginia. There may not be any laws against detecting on Postal Land but personally I wouldn't try it.

If you think it's worth the fight then I say go for it but it's probably not going to end well for you.....

Yeah, I think it’s best to find another spot to detect.... considered federal property on entire site including the grassy area.
It is our precious GOV again, although our TAX MONIES PAY FOR or subidise the cost of a postal service that wastes money on Alcohol Parties & etc that does not help God nor His people! ! Consider all GOV Properties & phycilities as wasteful for they are & ole sleepy Joe will make sure our taxes are raised to pay for his & all Congresses high salaries, benefits & pensions & get Royalty services before & after death, while they are desparately passing laws to hurt President Trump (still my president) to make sure even as a citizen he can never run for Gov office again, take away his privilege of burial in THEIR ROYAL privileged Cemetery & no Gov Benefits that most of these EVIL DOER CROOKS were definitely not privileged to or worth honoring & most still aren't, even Biden & Kamala & the rest of the wicked Socialist DEMS who are falsely in control by a stolen election!

But in the name of Jesus, we ask God to rebuke & bind their EVIL THEIVING SWAMPY works of unrighteousness & murdering & shedding the blood of Innocent human beings along with the demise of PLANNED MURDERHOOD with all that is connected to the destruction of babies in & out of the womb! And whatever is bound on earth is bound in heaven for God hates all that the EVIL DOERS do & since He reigns Supreme over all He created for mankind, He will expose and reveal each one in His time-span of fulfilling His Holy plans & Commandments that most people have broken & haven't repented from!

May we Christians (God's Children called by Jesus' name) ask Him in prayer to loosen His forgiveness & mercy upon the earth as it is in heaven & FREE us quickly, Please, from the snaring traps of evil rulings & laws brought upon us by iligitmate elections & the stolen votes by all our enemies wanting to enslave us, who're satan's EVIL servants as workers of iniquity against God Jehovah, Who is honorable of all our praise for He is truth & righteousness always! Amen! Ma

If they didn't personally know me I could see it.
I would think the nondiscrimination rules might apply, as you are being discriminated against even as a treasure hunter for funds to pay bills or even for your race but the best would be talk to your friend the postal worker & see if he can help you get permission? Is there more than one Post office or are there Branches? To be able to detect & stay out of trouble the best would be ask permission first--I never detected any Post offices--don't even know if there was enough land for detecting--my thoughts only! Ma

I had a friend who used to bring me milk, donuts & etc from where she worked that would have been thrown away, because I was just divorced & without a job & if I was gone, she would leave it in the mail box until a few times I didn't get the items; so then she stored them near bushes close to my front concrete porch--we didn't know about the PO rules, but I guess the mail carrier enjoyed free food! Ma

I'm really not concerned or worried about the government. Laws are laws and one should not live their life being afraid of our government as I'm doing nothing that goes against their own rules and regulations concerning their property, but that's just me. Jim

But you do know that many GOV workers; especially in Congress, do think they are above the laws that we must live by or pay the price by the unjust ways the Congress DEMS make laws for others but not for themselves! Good luck & God Bless you with available treasure hunting places & NICE FINDS! Amen! Ma
