Got up early again this morning and hit my new found field. Try as I may I can't see the date on the large. The IH is 1907.GR

I got up early and found only clad.... Maybe I should hunt at night, maybe find something then. Mayba I am not holding my mouth right.....

Most likely will have to travel a little to get one though or hunt some very old Farmsteads that are long gone or abandoned. Continued Success, Good Luck and HH.

Thanks James. That was my first large cent. I knew there was one somewhere in this field. The field is huge and flat with no stubble and little trash. I did a grid pattern on an area for an hour an only had the one IH.It was time to leave for work and I was running late so I did a random zigzag to my truck. I got half way there and got that nice clean signal that says dig me. 7" down and the last shovel scoop had a big round imprint on it and I got a little chill..probe in the hole and beep beep beep...Large cent. It's been a year or firsts for me and it's early in the season. to bad the grass is growing so fast as I have only covered about an eighth of this field. It will be one of my spots for a few years I'm sure.GR

Most if not All Detectorist's once in awhile make a great find on their way back to their vehicle. I've done it a few times myself. Some call it Luck, but I think it is more than that. Take that Seated Quarter for instance that I found this past weekend. I called it even before we got to the site. I knew only that it was Older and used by lots of people back in the late 1800's. I didn't know what the site looked like but Tim did. First Silver dug was that Seated Coin that I told everyone I was going to start with. I have had plenty other experiences on calling Coins I wanted to find and soon after, I would find them. Just like the 21-d Merc last year. Seen Tim's 23 Merc and thought instantly there's a 21-d Merc waiting to be found. Got out of the vehicle and took a straight shot across a Park and there she was. I find it to be a gift or something (Rick(ND) calls it a Sixth Sense). A lot of great finds are found headed back to vehicles so keep that in mind every time you head back to yours. You could be only a short distance from that great find you've always wanted to find. You got real Lucky with that zig-zag. Hope you have many more first's this year and Good Luck and HH to you.:detecting:

Was out this morning and was diggin up some neat relics (will post later) when the farm machines converged on me. Oh well. I guess I'll have a new field next year.GR
