Great Sunday hunt leads to many firsts and personal records!

I am still so exhausted from hunting for 10 hours yesterday but I am still pretty excited about the hunt. I got a wicked sunburn on my neck. Note to self: use sunblock on your neck even if it is only 60 degrees out.

Started the day around 9am at a new place I have been wanting to check out for a while. That is where I picked up the Zoo souvenir smashed penny with monkeys on it and the .925 ring. Then made my way over to a group hunt that had formed about a mile away. That is where I picked up the silver quarter and the Chuckie Cheese 1983 token!

Then on my way back home I decided to stop at an area that I had been hitting hard ever since I got my etrac 3 weeks ago, and after about an hour I got the two mercs about 1 foot from each other!

Wheaties where everywhere... and when I was cleaning out my bag of finds, I found an extra nickel I didn't remember digging. I must have dug it and figured it was a normal Jefferson. I just happened to look at the year and noticed it was a 1943 war nickel! Heck yeah! My 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 5th silver since getting my new detector.

I am pretty sure everything I did today beat a personal record... including the time spent hunting, and the number of total digs ever. 56 screw/bottle caps is probably a record also. Jeez I wish those 12/42's were silver instead of screwcaps!

Thanks for reading!
GTL

Note: In my picture I show one of the mercs as a 1947, it is actually a 1942 (but not the 41/42 die error)

Thats quite a haul. Congrats to you. If I detected that long I'm pretty sure I would die.

You've dug more in one day than I did the last 3 weeks. Congratulations on the finds and thanks for the pictures.

NebTrac

wow thats a lot of digging! sounds like a good time though!

You did good! Like Nebtrac I haven't found that much in 3 weeks (3weeks heck- month) That smashed penny was made that way probably. I have one I got from my dad that he got in San Francisco at the worlds fair when he was in the navy. They are called enlongated coins. You will probably find some on ebay. Way to go!

Thanks Goldsniper. I figured it was a penny some kid put in one of those machines where you turn the crank and it rolls your penny flat and makes a picture on it. Too bad I can't tell what kind of penny it was or year even.

By looking at the coins, the ring and the keys and knife, I roughly counted 240 items with the 56 bottle caps included and not considering the other junk targets in the picture.

That equals to 24 items dug per hour. That breaks down to 1 item pinpointed, dug and the hole filled every 2.5 minutes or 2 items every 5 minutes for 10 hours.

Wow - way to make the stats BCOOP! That is probably pretty accurate. Some holes had junk with the coins or junk with more junk but it was still alot of holes to dig with a little lesche hand digger! Thanks for the reply!
