Cool finds !!!!

Hi there Ken...Just admiring the 'button' in Badjim's picture locker...love that.

Ken, noticed your location..Georgia. Somehow that place name pushes the memories button for me.

Reminds me of the times when I was really active in amateur radio, and doing some experiments with antenna design and low power transmissions.

One 'hot' day in propagation terms, I made contact on 28 MHz with a gent from Georgia. The airwaves were crackling with activity and he was being bombarded from European hams, for a QSO.

I was standing in my garden, and swinging a hand held antenna 'loaded' array, and running just ONE WATT erp, and whist fully gave him a call. The other guys were using kilowatts !!!

Suddenly he came back. "Stand by Matt from the UK"..."Give me a carrier burst and I'll home in on".

We chatted for almost 3/4 hour, until conditions deteriorated......I remember him saying, "At night, it's so quiet here, that we roll up the side walks"

Just as he signed off, he mentioned that it had begun raining, and he closed saying, "It's gonna be another rainy night in Georgia".

Now I play my Brook Benton LP vinyl....and his beautiful mellow tones just bring back memories that almost make me feel I was right there, in rainy Georgia.

So hope you all have a good day, BadJim...Goes4ever, and ken............Matt............TheMarshall
