HEY, didn't you know I was just getting to buy that??? :heh: (kiddin ya)-------Let us know how that little buggar works Mike!------------Del

TerraDigger,
It was $45 shipped. It was listed in the accessory classifieds. I'll have it in hand next week some time.

I let you all know how it does. I had been looking pretty hard at headphone amplifiers for a few weeks trying to make up my mind on what to buy. There are several options. Boostaroos, CMOYs, etc. The Depthmaster is already wired for 1/4" headphones and already has a track record for metal detector usage so I couldn't pass it up. I don't see them come up for sale very often.

I've got three headphones to try them on to see which gives the best high tone response for the F5 multi-tone modes for fringe depth signals: Uniprobes, Koss UR30, and the standard Fisher phones. I hope the Uniprobes work well on it cause I've become pretty dependant on it's probe.

Ok, so I guessed that the depthmaster is a pair of headphones, but what exactly makes them special? Someone got a link to overview of it?

The Depthmaster's are headphone amplifiers that were made for metal detectors, they look simular in size to CMOYs. They boost the audio signals, depending on the Ohm rating of the headphones being used with them. Simular to the Boostaroos, and CMOYs but wired with 1/4" headphone jacks. I'm still testing them out and will report when I'm finished.

Interesting, so basically it just makes signals louder? Must be getting depths that Ive only dreamed about. :) I have a pair of fishers headphones, and tend to run with only one ear covered, leave the other ear open with my bluetooth headphone in it in case of phone calls and to be able to hear if something or someone is around me or approaching me.

Hope it works on your detector, the Depthmaster was made for older detectors and the F5 is pretty new. I had one and used it on my 1265x, but that was several years ago. I sold the 1265 and keep the Depthmaster and just last year I got a 1270 and the F75 and it wouldn't work on either. I tested it on my stereo and it worked fine, and I sold it and got word back that he didn't have any problem with it working on his machine.

When you get it and if it doesn't work, before you say it is broke, I would suggest you test it on something else like your stereo.

Good luck,

Ron in WV

how did it work out?
