Guvner gave me permission to see if there was any interest in Having a Maps Forum.:clapping:

A maps forum is a great idea and I know I will make good use of that information.

Sounds like a good idea to me. It may not get as much activity as the other forums, but I know I'd use it.

Mark

Not a bad idea as long as it is not perceived as an encouragement for folks to hunt in places they should not. I think that 99.9% of the persons on this site are responsible and would not hunt private property or "protected" locations without permission. However, there may be a few unscrupulous lurkers who would misuse the information and cause problems for the rest of us. Just a thought ....

DD

DD,
I agree that probably 99.9 percent of the people are responsible,
a map ,by no means gives anyone the right to detect there.
Everyone always hopes that there are not people who do unscrupulous things,
But ,Everyone also knows ,that there are these people.
What a person does, governs, what kind of person, that person is.
i point this at no one, that's just the way life is.
We just hope for the best, and do the best we can.

Bob:
I think a map forum would be a great idea. Considering all the different types and sources of maps. I have been detecting for forty years and I still am always looking to improve my knowledge of the areas I hunt. Maps are one of the most useful tools in finding new old areas to hunt. This would be a perfect time of the year to start since right now I couldn't get within a foot of the ground to go detecting because of the snow.
Count me in.

Have a great New Years

The Maps Forum is now up in the Class rooms forum.
Thanks for all the support.

Im trying to find a reason why it would be bad to have these maps. Id like to see some of the old insurance maps or plate maps available.

They are all already available online for you to download and/or view. They aren't difficult to find if you know where to look. I just don't think everybody should be spoon fed all of this information and handed great spots to detect that might already be somebody else's favorite spots that might have taken them years to research.

And these books aren't all that expensive either. Many are in the $20 range.

I'm sorry, but I think that's weak.

If you agree with this logic, then by extension this entire forum is spoon-feeding people information. For that matter the entire internet is spoon-feeding people information.

This forum no doubt helps many of us become better dirt fishers. People who otherwise wouldn't do as well, or maybe even give up the hobby.

And those people would be more likely to find great spots that might have been somebody else's favorite spots before they came along.

So would you argue that you're against this forum?

I think it's weak that you didn't read the entire post. Earlier in the thread I stated that my original response had been deleted. I had a good list of reasons why I was against it. I responded to Dew personally on this thread because he is a friend of mine that I detect with pretty frequently.

Nope, I'm not against this forum. But I am against you now. Hugs and Kisses.

I read what was available to read of yours.

Maybe you had some pearls of wisdom in your deleted post that I missed, but I doubt if that would have made me agree with you.

But disagreeing with you doesn't make me against you. Sorry you're against me.

I think I'll pass on the hugs and kisses.

Bob...........Your way to close to my hunting grounds for us to be sharing maps:lmfao:. Of course it would be a good idea!
