Had a Compact kind of hunt today.

Ya, I know.
But the fact is, they all sounded worth digging. So I guess that's what you gotta do to get the goodies. The soil is a killer here and its a back yard.

All that for the goodies.

Glad you found some silver and not so many of those nasty big coppers HA HA Congrats on the silver.Good luck on your next hunt.

Good to see you find some Silver even though it isn't from the time period of the other Coins you usually post. What is the top item? Coin? Continued Success, Good Luck and HH.

But big silver is not an every day occurrence and silver in general is hard to come by in my area.
The odd copper disc with the lady on it is still puzzling me. It had two other plies of copper, a glass lens and a ring holding it all together.

I don't think 2 newer Silver are going to ruin your image. Maybe 3, but not 2. ;) Keep up the great finds NH Bob and maybe next time, you will land a really Old Silver Coin. Good Luck and HH.

Very nice finds...

Nice finds, but that is not a compact. If you could read the letters it would say, "Merry Widow". Tony

Good going Bob ~ very nice.

When you say the soil is a killer, do you mean mineralised ?

Could be a rouge box, but mine is just like the one with the lady on it and has Merry above her and Widow below her. Probably just a brand name. Tony

They offered the tins and 3 condoms for 50 cents. At that time 50 Cents was a lot of money. But they caught on because you could reuse the tins.
The early tins were like the one I posted and as their business grew the tins were painted. I had one of those too but no longer have a pic.
