Has Anyone Ever Found a SEATED DOLLAR?

banditicey

New member
Was at a local Antique Mall today and saw a Seated Dollar from the early 1800's

I am not really knowledgeable about coins but I was surprised to see it

I am very familiar with Morgan Dollars although I have not found one and can only dream of that type of find

So, anyone actually found a Seated Dollar?

I've never heard of one being found....but it would be awesome. I just got my first Morgan....ok I won it from Treasurefiends contest but that still counts ......doesn't it? Lol

I found a Susan B Anthony in one hole and two presidential dollars in another hole on the same day. The presidents were different but my friend said no trifecta anway. He was just jealous. I have never found a silver dollar or a silver half. I have found halfs before but only Kennedys. I have found every kind of dollar coin but the silver ones, But not all with the etrac. Idigid

This is not to make you jealous BUT

We belong to a great MD Club that has a coin hunt at several local parks and we/members are given clues every month and there are Eisenhower Dollars buried
and when you find the Eisenhower Dollar and present it at the next MD meeting, you then get a Silver Dollar (Morgan)

Between Brian and I we have managed to get 10 Morgan Dollars for the Dollar Finds in the last three years

And we have also found the Susan B's and other non Silver Dollars as Idigid but we have both been lucky to find Silver Halves, WLH (2 for him) and one Barber Half for me

Thanks for your comments

Now that sounds like an awesome club to belong to! I don't have a club in my town...which is good in some ways, because that means there are fewer hard core detectorists out there. :D But I do enjoy hunting with others, so that kind of sucks sometimes when my buddy can't go out.

banditicey; Go to u-tube type in Big Old silver live dig. The guy says he found one but it sure wasnt deep.

I tried looking for it
I found one video with that tittle with a ET and a 6 inch Morgan Dollar
Is that the one you meant?

I think a club hunt would be cool, The nearest thing we have in boise to a club hunt is when they tear out a sidewalk downtown. Seems like everyone shows up. Idigid

I have found the same thing with the few silver DMarks I found. They are quarter size to almost half dollar size. None deeper than 7" - not much for a 100 year old coin...

Then I find some smaller targets a bit deeper - e.g. small silver ring at 8" and smaller dime sized coins at the same, and probably newer than the above coins. I guess the sink rate or displacement rate varies with targets by size (and other factors).

not a seated dollar but my buddy dug a seated HALF dollar, I got it on full dig, I also got a frankling half on full dig same day, same video, you ever see it?

That is one Great Video!

You guys make it look so easy but I do know better

Barber Dan may be visiting in my area in the Spring and I better find a really really great place!
The pressure is on!

REALLY COOL VIDEO!

I think I would be shaking also if I found a Seated Half.

There is a couple in our MD Club who own a Coin Shop
I found out that the Woman collects Seated Dollars :surprised:
But they get them through the shop and not via detecting.......obviously

banditicey; When I first saw the video it didnt show the cleaned coin at the end and I thought it was
a seated silver dollar but it was a half. sorry my mistake.
It was the video by bonesquat.
