has anyone ever set the etrac for silver only

Has anyone ever set their etrac for silver only? I just hunted a park that was started in 1918, there were 5 of us, we hunted for 6 hours and no one got any silver, lots of wheats and nickels. Very little trash, hardly any clad. Of course clad comes pretty close to silver readings. The average depth of wheats were 1 to 5 inches, and the nickels were the same, as a matter of fact, I got a very worn "slider" of an indian nickel that was only 1/2 inch deep. I was using Bill_S trashy park pattern, then I tried TTF for a while. For theheck of it, I was watching a squirrel burying his nuts at the base of a tree that had to be over 100 years old, so after he left I went over there to see if I could find his nut, and for the heck of it I scanned the area he was digging and 2 inches below his exact spot I got a signal. I dug 2 inches deeper than he did and got a 1940 penny. I think I just figured it all out, the squirrels are stealing the silver and replacing them with wheats, that is why the wheats were so shallow, does that sound like a good hypothesis? Now to figure out where those dang squirrels are depositing the silver........nge

Lots of times I use a ton of disc just looking for silver. Sure you'll miss the Indians and most Wheaties and everything in between. Just alter Bill's program. Reject co 39 down and fe 28 and higher. Reject the nickel and your off to find the high conductors. I have a few video's on yourtube showing this pattern and me digging deep silver.
FYI: When hired to find a gold I open the 12 line with the 5 block and only open up co 1 through 30. Works like a charm. I also have some vids showing this pattern and me finding rings.

Ive used quick mask on a new site for silver, but the way I had it set, those pesky wheats and occasional deep clad snuck in there anyway.

Thus, the ever re-occurring question of wheat backs & silver (and their ratios) has FINALLY been solved!!!!-----If you ever figure out where those buggar squirrels are hiding the silver--let me know--I want to go hunting with you!

When I was at this park, a fellow came up to me to see if I was finding anything and I said not really, and he told me that there was an older fellow and maybe his young grandson out there hunting 2 weeks ago, and he showed him a 1954 Benny and some other assorted shiney coins. And he said his machine looked just like mine.....go figure:nopity: I guess I will have to set mine up for silver only and try it at one of my local parks....nge

I like to Cherry pick a site first. But as the good finds dwindle down I keep opening up the disc. On some sites I've hunted I hunt wide open now.

I do not know bout the squirrels, but has anyone noticed that the red ants love to be around buried zincs...I hate that...dig a zinc, and get ants...I think they eat them...

HH,

They can't eat them fast enough for me.........lol nge

Yep, I've totally noticed the ants around zinc's problem. I've also wondered why they hang around them but it certainly is true.
