Supposedly before they even came out collectors and hoarders bought all the Mint had. Now many places, and people, don't have any of the new pennies.Just wondering.

i was wondering the same thing till a few days ago i got one at the gas station i was begining to think they didnt exist

I have found 1 in pocket change and I found one last Saturday while detecting in our local school yard

I think our coinage is overdue for updating, but...

When a penny costs more than a penny to make, it makes no sense to put on a new design that's automatically going to encourage hoarding.

Well actually if the pennies or any other coin becomes popular then they do make money by having all the coin collector's spending their pennies to buy pennies:rofl:

But seriously it is more of a historical thing. If any of you read the various coin magazines they always have historical articles on various coins and it is pretty much what the new penny thing is all about...Abe's 200th birthday!
