Has anyone replaced the foam grip on their Safari?

I couldn't help noticing that the rubberized grip on my $15 leaf rake is way better than the deteriorating foam grip on my $1,000 Safari. Was wondering if it would be much of a problem to replace the foam grip on the Safari?

Never replaced the foam grip, but did use 2 mil thickness plastic wrap and duct tape to protect foam grip from wear.

I'm ready to replace mine too. It is getting shoved forward/up and is splitting because of that. Wearing a callus at the base of my index finger as a result too.

I'm anxiously watching this thread for any ideas..........

Mine wore and started to rip I just wrapped tape on it

I used black electrical tape and it looks good and has a nice grip

Try this..

Get some of that pipe insulation for the shaft diameter
Buy some large electrical heat shrink and, slip on the pipe insulation and cover the ends leaving the foam bare where you grip it (or cover it completely with the heat shrink) and use a hair dryer to shrink it down and snug..

Should work fine..

Minelab told me ,you have to send the detector to Minelab,they have a special tool to change the foam.

go to your sporting goods store and buy the SPORTS WRAP for a tennis racket and wrap it with that----------------outstanding resultsAND ITS NOT STICKY

I replace it with cork tape from bicycle store works best.

Just took mine off and left it off seems like it only lasted about 2 months dont really seem to need it

I used a foam type bicycle handlebar wrap. Just wrapped it around existing pad which made it a thicker and more comfortable grip.
