Has anyone tried the new 13" DD Detech coil for E-Trac?

like earthman is saying it is heavy , but anything bigger is heavy i found my coins this week at a old football field 300 miles from home, just found it on google earth. i never stepped off the old playing field , in the middle and far sideline the big coil was unreal ran it at manual 29-30 found all silver over 8 inches and a memorial penny at maybe 10 inches, i was confident i didnt leave much . when i got close to the bleacher side it would have been better to just change coils down . it was ok not much iron really but just chatter from ground stuff . i have the sharpshooter 9 1/2 by 5 1/2 and it is excellent and a good size , it could be used as a everyday coil . if i had the time i would have swapped out . or maybe my sef 8x6 .if you spend this much on a etrac yu must be serious so there is no do all coil. to me the pro coil is good but not great at either hunt. a 9x5 . 12x13 or a detech 13 and just change to the conditions .i am not finding any silver coins less than 7 inches so i need the depth , would be nice lighter

khw - No, the Detech is light, very light for it's size. It is heavier than the stock and I notice that, but the other larger coil is much heavier is what I was saying.

Also, the Detech is VERY good around EMI from my testing in house. Not a great test, but all I can report back thus far.

Regarding the stock coil. I really really think it is an INCREDIBLE coil. I keep coming back to it in areas with a few targets per sweep. when it gets more than that I go to the 6X8 SEF, though I hear great things about the sharpshooter.

When I have more to report, not only will I tell you (so please stop PM'ing me as I will post it here) but I will video it.

Good hunting,
Albert

no i meant the tornado was heavy or heavier , that really doesnt bother me , lift some weights on the off days . i have read the comparison weights on the 3 . now i am interested in the emi . that i notice the tornado wanted to act up around here some, but really no more than the procoil same spot. when i went to my 2 smaller coils it was better so i wrote it off as the large coil. i am glad to hear from you the detech seems better with the emi . if i run auto +3 most of the time it settles around 21-22 at that level i get no silver . when i ran at 30 this week the tornado range out good at around 8 inches, you lower to 21 and cant hear it.i can almost get more depth from the sharpshooter because at 29-30 sens it is better than the other coils at 21 , this is a sleeper coil because it could be used as a everyday coil and it is light really light

I thought you might have meant the other coil was heavier but just wanted to be sure.

Yes, what you mention is typical of bigger coils and EMI. Often, quite often, the smaller coils get more effective depth cause they can be turned up. I can run most of the coils at 30 manual though, as I'm just outside the city and things are usually quiet there.

That 6X8 SEF will go very deep at 30 sensitivity. I'm quite confident it will pick up coins with a decent signal in the 8" - 10" range in my iron mineralized ground at that sensitivity.

When I ran the 13" Detech inside I was able to get it to run at 30 sensitivity, the larget coil couldn't. That right there is big.

Thanks for the comments,
Albert

if you can run that inside at 30 then i am really excited now , the procoil and tornado are both under 20 and still crazy inside , i would like a 11 x7 coil and just run with it , somebody needs to make one but it will probably be made in tibet and i will never get it

The 13" Detech was chatty inside at 30 sensitivity, but totally bearable and generally once the coil is on the ground it quiets down anyway.

I tested it in the morning, so EMI was lower.

well update ...no coil . paid 43 days ago , no reflection on the coil it may be the best ever but at the present time there is only one place to buy it . i am sure the seller mailed it but bottom line i dont have it and this should be considered if you are thinking about buying one at least until it is carried by other vendors. i had to file a non receipt claim with pay pal before the 45 day deadline. of course i will cancel if it shows but the seller is charging a hefty price on the coil and a considerable amount shipping so they are responsible for getting it to the buyer , just bummed out

I noticed that recently on the sellers feedback there is a comment that it took 30 days to arrive in the UK, which is a lot closer than the USA and Canada.
You had no choice but to file the claim because your only protected within the 45 day limit. Unfortunately I will also have to file a claim once I get close to 45 days without delivery. I am very confident that the coils have been shipped but our hands are tied. The seller should probably offer expedited or express shipping.

is it the sellers fault that the coils have not arrived ?

i would want my money back too but it doesn't seem fair that because a mailing contractor can not deliver seller loses twice coil and cash, i bet if he takes a few hits like that he wont be around for long.

he is on the ball he just emailed me back , here is the kicker my main part of my business is ebay and shipping i ship around 600 items a month around 50-60K a month , and a few are overseas . by trial and error you find out fast what works and what dont. you start losing money because you ship something el cheapo or first class overseas you will find the right carrier or service. i learned my lesson. never ship a item to malasyia , middle east , africa , eastern europe and believe it or not italy is bad . it is my responsibilty to get the item there ,and ebay now offers their own insurance for a decent fee that i am sure this seller can use .and besides if this is the manufactuer he has a decent amt of profit built in on these . i told him i dont want a refund just the coil so will see what happens , after the 45 days you wont be feeling sorry for the seller anymore

i have a coil coming from him too and yes 45 days is a loooooooooong time in this day and age of fast everything i just wonder why he doesn't charge a bit more and use a faster shipping method its to slow for sure seems our friends in the Ukraine can get items here much faster and the countries are right next to each other, something doesn't add up in that regard.

i am waiting for some reports on this coil on the beach and land see if i want to wait a few months for it to arrive :sadwalk:

i do hope it shows up this week for you guys we all want what we pay for.

this guy is on the ball he just emailed me back and offered my money right now. i said no and explained by doing a claim i now have until mar 30 to escalate it , then even if i do that it is another 2 weeks or so . geez that would be almost 90 days , he said the next shipping level is almost 1/3 of what the coil actually cost, i dont know about that considering the ukranian coils are 25 shipping and take maybe 3 weeks , but the guy is legit shipping them

I hope you guys get your coils soon! It sounds like the seller is doing his best considering the circumstances.

It doesn't take much dealing with some foreign shipping services to quickly realize how amazing the U.S Postal Service really is.

On his eBay feedback I saw at least one guy in the USA who got his coil. I think he said it took 35 days.
The seller is honest but unfortunately his online business is being hurt by slow shipping. I also ordered the coil from the Ukraine and it took only 20 days to get here. Shipping in that case was $25.
I'm in Canada. I just had a package from China arrive yesterday and it took 57 days.....usually only takes about 22 days.
We will probably all get our coils around the same time......I'm thinking 48 days:sadwalk:

Dave

I want one of these coils, but I am glad I didn't order one. International shipping can really suck.

sounds like a bunch of trouble and nonsense with a pinch of rediculous thrown in. I'll keep the pro coil for now

George Lynn must be a happy fellow. Keep an eye on the "Detector Accessory Classified Forum" for a new 13" DD Detech coil for sale.:surprised: Hope you can find it.

yeah the guy responds to my emails but is a idiot . he just keeps saying that was the address on pay pal , now about some strike in frankfurt , i told him bite the bullet and mail me one today express mail and pay what it cost out of his pocket , from what business he will lose alone here and negative ebay feedback will cost him way more than that , will see what happens i just want the coil , but this appears to be nothing wrong with the post office just a mistake by the seller shipping
