Has everyone gotten their flu shots!?!

Well, I didn't-told myself I didn't have time and it was a waste of money. Guess what? I got the flu. Been down since last Saturday and it was horrible-the sickest I have been since 2006. Extremely high temp, achy, coughing, sneezing, you name it. Loren had something before Christmas that was similiar and after taking her to the ER, we were told it was probably a virus. I have since learned that nasal swabs to test for the flu aren't totally accurate. Praise GOD us girls are doing better now and I pray travis doesn't get sick. Phew! I will be first in line to get a shot next year.

Yeah, got one at the school this year. Never have gotten one before, as God has blessed me with a great immune system so far, but thought it would be better if I got one this year.

Nope, my immune system couldn't take it and I don't go out much....so, hopefully, in God's protection I will be okay! Heard something was going around down where my sister lives in Southeast MO! No! I have not and I'll give you two reasons why I haven't done so. 1. Everytime I get a flu shot, I promptly get sick and 2. My cancer doctor advised me to avoid them. Living with a weakened immune system has its difficulties and getting flu shots is one of them.

Don't you worry about the kissin', Mike! This is a good excuse to stay away I was too sick to be posting to the forum and didn't get on the computer at all for several days.....Travis had his hands full here being the lady of the house! Lol.

Most do, Pete. Since I decided not to take one this year, I didn't really research to see what was available in the area. The flu shots labeled therimisol (not sure of that spelling)-free and mercury free. They are harder to find. Most doctors won't order them because they are harder to store and cost more (big shocker, right?). Makes no sense to me....seems like most people would be willing to pay 4-5 dollars more per shot for a safer option. Insurance companies don't see it that way tho. I totally understand your hesitation, but for the average joe, it is much safer to take a shot than not.

Hey SS,

Travis got sick when he tried to take a flu shot years ago. His dr. adviced him to never take another. Your Dr. knows your history and your bodies limitations......I would def heed his advice! Hope and pray you make it thru this particularly nasty season with no sickness at all!
