Headphone mods on Excalibur II

I am looking for advice on headphone mod for my excalibur II. Does anyone regret modding theres now that some time has gone by? Any issues arose since? And finally anyone have any instructions pref with pictures on doing this mod with a set of Peltor 98s ?

From the pictures of the 98's it looks like these and theBulls Eye 7's are very similar.Check out the link. I did the Peltor 105's and the ear pads don't look like they come off. But they are still easy to mod, and have a higher noise reduction rating of 29db vs. 25db. You probably will need a cheap Dremel, Walmart has a small one for $19.99 but you will need a cutting tool and a grinding tool to smooth things up. Also look up Peltor 105 Mod on here. everyone on here who's done the mod are raving about how much they like this mod. This is not surprising, once you get the Koss'es apart there is no material to deaden the outside sounds, just plastic more for diving.. But a bunch of foam in them like the Peltors would absorb water, the Peltors are not going to be practical for diving IMO.

No regrets after 2+ years, have 3 sets and working on a 4th... best mode you can do other then the SShaft........, 101's 105's were a difference but not that much to where you will have a problem, 98's can't be that much different either...also just leave out the foam, there is no noticeable difference....the big thing with transducers is the area you leave open is like a chamber for the sound to get its depth. With transducers the plastic that is used to mount them on can make a difference in the sound/tones also, so leave as much of the black plastic as you can, the transducers vibrate this plastic, the empty shell gives it the depth..just leave a small area at the top and bottom for the sound waves to get to your ears. One reason the real old excaliburs had better sound/tones is because there was no foam, and they were mounted to just a piece of hard brittle plastic. And the pads do come off, small flat head screwdriver..And the pad will pull off of the mounting piece, so you can change them out if needed

Thanks to "MR. GOLD MASTER" for this mode...he did over 5 years ago
