Heads I Win, Tails I Win, 3 Silver rings, And a story

Idprospector

Went out yesterday to the Baseball Field and pulled out two silver rings. One Nice one with an English kind of theme, and an old school silver ring with copper and stone inlays. Both were about 7 or 8 inches deep. I stopped by a little grassy area outside a strip mall tonight, It was about midnight and the parking lot lights were lighting things up pretty nicely. I pulled in, and pulled out the Etrac and started swinging. A minute into the hunt the guy from the hot dog stand comes over and asked if I was finding anything. I said I am hoping to find some silver or gold. I passed over a few zinc pennies and some foil. Then a solid 12-48 signal. I said "Oh Yeah"! He said What is it. I said "Silver" I I am taking this one home. I dug the plug and told him I was going to drive it home and let my wife pull it out of the plug. I have been trying to get her into detecting with me but she never will go. I lived just a half mile away so I headed home. I came in with a lump of sod. My wife wasnt impressed when I told her I wanted her to pull the item out of the plug. She didnt want a thing to do with it so I started pulling the plug apart and then got to the ring. She was a little exited but not like i was. I was sure the fun of seeing a nice ring come out of the ground in the comfort of her own home would sell her on detecting. No such luck. It was worth a try I guess. It is the ring on the keyboard in the pics. I headed back to the strip mall and showed the hot dog man the ring and he was wanting to see if I could find something else. I dug a few more coins and then got a nice steady signal, I dont remember what it was though. It turned out to be a Heads I win tails you loose token. I think I have seen them on the forums before. I am at 5 Silver for the month of February and one copper ring. I also have now dug two tokens. I have been using a very tight disc pattern and have been doing real well with it. I will post it after I make a few changes. Idigid

That sounds like an awesome idea, but I'm sure my wife would react the same way. She always tells me to give her a call if I find a lot of diamonds attached to some gold, otherwise don't bother her.

He Did Not Have To Try So Hard With Me

I was finding Clad and Never Let Go

Congrats on all your Great Finds

Do You Know Where The Heads/Tails Token Comes From?

A great story...I can almost imagine someone making a great You-Tube video, with all the suggested trimmings.

The finale could be your wife entering stage left,,,, you putting the ring on her finger, and SHE carries you off..... leaving your E-Trac for the sausage seller......

Fab detecting episode with a great detector...well done....magic.

Great hunt with nice rings. Would have turned me into a believer! If I wasn't already one.:)
Cheers

I dont know where the token is from but I think its not from any specific establishment. I will do a little research and let you know. Idigid

I did a little looking and they seem fairly common. I think they were sold in bulk to different places that resold them.

Nice finds and great directing by the Marshall. That was funny

That was fun to read. Did you take the plug all the way back to the mall???

Thanks for the pictures Idigid.

Hello Nebtrac. I did. It is less than a mile away. My wife didnt think I was really going to drive it back but I told here it was the only right thing to do. I hated taking it in the first place but I really wanted my wife to see what it was like to see a ring or coin come out of the ground. Honestly I had hoped it was a ring or nice jewelry piece anyway. The hot dog guy didn't think I was going to come back either. When he saw me come back and put the plug back he figured I was an honest guy and told me where he had lost a class ring during a fight on the side of a road. (He and I agreed that drunk people do the darndest things) I will let you guys know if I can find it. He said he lost it 10 or so years ago but I cant imagine anyone would metal detect on the side of the open road. I thought about all you guys that hunt farmhouses this last Saturday. I was in a coin and jewelry store and a guy brought in a Gold thimble and sold it as scrap. It had engraving on it and was quite cool looking. I think I heard the buyer say it was 13 grams and I didn't hear what purity it was. I wanted to ask him the history of the thimble but that store is kind of grumpy about one customer talking to another customer about an item they are selling. I guess they think someone might be trying to buy out from under them. Idigid.
