Hello, brand new to the site, and wanted to take the time to say hello
I am a recent retiree, and wanted something to occupy my time a little
more, and get out in the fresh air.
I have a Garrett Ace 250, and was wondering what this machine is
good at detecting? Beaches, fields, parks, woods etc.
I've had my machine for a few years, but finally have the time to
get out and explore. So any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you, stay safe out there

Hello - I had the 250 years ago and it a very capable machine. Never did any beach detecting - all parks & fields.
Put time using it to get to know the machine.
There is plenty of posts and YT vids.
I also back then added a small coils - works better for me in more trashy areas.
Although I only used it a few times, I had a friend tag along letting him use the 250.
He did alright at a ball park finding a few coins (including a silver quarter), but then he off the park edge and hit a good signal - dirt was rock hard and he spent a lot of time chipping at the dirt until he finally dug up a used oil filter. For some odd reason he was happy it could hit such a large target :D so I let him have the machine.
Put time using it in different locations. A good pinpointer makes life easier and a good little trowel digger - I mainly use the Lesche.
Don't go to wild setting sens to high etc. Just get used to it and you'll be fine.
Don't get all disappointed digging some trash as that is part of the game. Sometimes a trashy signal can turn out to be something good.
Your backyard - set various coins and targets and practice...
Headphones/earbuds for noisy environmental conditions - big coils cover ground and goes deeper, small coils for trashy area also gets smaller targets but generally don't go as deep as larger coils.
Have good batteries/charge before you go and have fun.....
