Help determining what frequency my coils are

The Diggernaut

New member
I recently purchased a used X-Terra and it came with 2 coils. The problem is that I have no idea what frequency they are. The person I purchased it from does not know. Is there a way to determine what frequency they are?

Thank you for any help!!!

From the manual.....

Concentric Standard (7.5kHz)
This frequency is most suitable for general
detecting for most ground conditions. These
coils have a label with the letter M on them.

Concentric Low (3kHz)
This frequency is more suited to searching for
larger, deeper targets, higher-conductivity coins
(eg. most US coins) and has improved ferrous
rejection. These coils have a label with the
letter L on them.

Concentric High (18.75kHz)
This frequency is more suited to searching for
smaller shallow targets, gold nuggets and low
conductivity targets (e.g. hammered coins, fine
jewellery). These coils have a label with the
letter H on them.

If you want more info, download the manual from Minelab's website and take a look at page 48.

If they have the M marked on them they are 7.5kHz.

I just purchased and Xterra 705 myself. Your maching is capable of telling you what freq your coil is. Go to page 48 in your manual and it gives instruction how to do that.

Watch the machine when you first turn it on! My 305 will say MF (mid frequency) or HF (high frequency) depending on the coil.
